What this PR does:
This PR extends the PodResources API to optionally include init containers, regardless of their restartability.
include_init_containers
field toListPodResourcesRequest
andGetPodResourcesRequest
messages. With this change, users can retrieve resource information for both regular and restartable init containers
by setting
IncludeInitContainers: true
when querying the API.Why we need it:
Previously, the PodResources API did not expose resource usage for regular init containers.
Even if an init container ran for a long period, there was no way to determine which
DeviceID
(e.g., GPU) it used. This enhancement allows kubelet to provide resource information for all init containers, which is especially useful for monitoring tools such as DCGM-exporter.
