Democrats plunged forward yesterday with a bid to knock GOP gubernatorial front-runner Mitt Romney off the ballot, claiming his three years running the Olympics in Utah violates a seven-year minimum residency law.
The Massachusetts Democratic Party formally unveiled the long-expected residency challenge an hour before the 5 p.m. deadline, setting up a three-week sideshow in the race for governor.
They said Romney tax documents and public statements show he tried to "cover up" proof he considered Utah his chief residence.
