SPRINGFIELD -- W. Mitt Romney, a 47-year-old venture capitalist, won a rousing endorsement yesterday from Massachusetts Republicans to oppose US Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and immediately vowed to oust the 32-year incumbent and undo his legacy of "failed big brother liberalism."
In his first major political outing, Romney, a Belmont father of five sons, romped to a first-ballot convention victory with 68 percent of the delegate vote, a margin that forced two other major candidates out of the race.
