Eco-friendly literally means earth-friendly or not harmful to the environment. Eco-friendly products also prevent contributions to air, water and land pollution. You can engage in eco-friendly habits or practices by being more conscious of how you use resources.

CARB COMPLIANT?

CARB is an acronym for California Air Resource Board. The California Air Resource Board is the “clean air agency” which is responsible for managing air sanitation and motor vehicle pollution.

"One of CARB's goal's is to PROTECT the Public from exposure to toxic air contaminants. "

COMPOSITE PANEL ASSOCIATION

The Composite Panel Association (CPA), a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization founded in 1960, represents the North American composite wood panel and decorative surfaces industries on technical, standards, regulatory, quality assurance and product acceptance matters. CPA also operates the ITCC, and internationally-accredited Third Party Certifier (TPC), and the first in the world to be approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for formaldehyde emissions testing and certification of composite panels.

Companies and facilities listed as NAF,ULEF,NAUF offer; “no added formaldehyde” (NAF), ultra-low emission formaldehyde (ULEF), “no added urea formaldehyde” (NAUF) and/or CARB Phase 2 certified emission levels as part of their product mix.

THE ECC SUSTAINABILITY STANDARD

The Eco-Certified Composite (ECC) Sustainability Standard is the voluntary industry standard developed by the Composite Panel Association (CPA) for manufacturers of composite wood or agrifiber-based panels, as well as finished products (including components and laminated panels) made with particleboard, medium density fiberboard (MDF), hardboard, engineered wood siding and engineered wood trim.

THE FSC STANDARD

The Forest Stewardship Council sets the standards for responsible forestry and protects forests of all kinds for future generations. Teak or eucalyptus furniture marked with the FSC seal ensures the consumer that the plantation met specific requirements to help maintain or restore the ecosystem.

GO ECC GREEN!

The North American Composite Panel industry is predicated on the optimal use of forestry byproducts and residuals - turning this re-cycled and reclaimed material into higher value products so it's not wasted. By their very nature, composite wood panels along with agrifiber - based panels are among the greenest products available for architectural, construction and consumer products.

GOODWEAVE CERTIFIED

The GoodWeave label is the best assurance that no child labor was used in the making of your rug. In order to earn the GoodWeave label, rug exporters and importers must be licensed under the GoodWeave certification program and sign a legally binding contract to adhere to GoodWeave’s no-child-labor standard; allow unannounced random inspections by local inspectors; and pay a licensing fee that helps support GoodWeave’s monitoring, inspections and education programs.

To ensure compliance, independent GoodWeave inspectors make unannounced inspections of each loom. If inspectors find children working, they offer them the opportunity to go to school instead. Producers who do not adhere to the standard lose their status with GoodWeave. To protect against counterfeit labeling, each label is numbered so its origin can be traced.

GoodWeave also sets contractual requirements for companies that import certified rugs. Importers agree to source only from GoodWeave certified exporters in India, Nepal, Afghanistan and any other country in which GoodWeave rugs are available. In North America, Europe and other rug-importing countries, only licensed importers are legally permitted to sell carpets carrying the GoodWeave label.  Learn more at www.goodweave.org
