Medicare Prescription Payment Plan

The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan  offers Medicare Part D enrollees the option to pay out-of-pocket prescription drug costs in the form of capped monthly payments instead of all at once at the pharmacy. All Medicare prescription drug plans are required to offer this benefit to enrollees.

Part one guidance on the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan outlines requirements for Medicare Part D plan sponsors on operational topics such as identifying Medicare Part D enrollees likely to benefit from the program, the opt-in process for Part D enrollees, program participant protections, and the program data collection. These requirements apply to the first year of the program, 2025.
