Nikkei's Promise for a Society
that Overcomes Challenges

Nikkei is constantly renewing its business model in step with changing times. We are harnessing digital technology to enhance our news reporting with video and data analysis, and developing novel services using AI. As a Group, our activities continue to expand globally. Our Values, Purpose, and Mission remain at the core of Nikkei today, and will continue to shape the Nikkei of the future.
Our Purpose is to deliver "Better insights for a better world." We cover the events and issues impacting the world, analyze the implications, and examine potential solutions. Every day we deliver quality content to our readers and customers, from news reporting to advertising, and across our many specialized services and platforms.
The principles of freedom and democracy are facing major challenges. We are witnessing an increasing tendency toward authoritarianism, while poverty and inequality are still widespread. We believe that society should embrace competition while upholding the right to individual independence and economic stability. These are values we are determined to uphold, as we strive for a freer, more prosperous, world.
Our Mission was created jointly with the U.K.'s Financial Times, and expresses our aspiration "To be the most trusted, independent provider of quality journalism to a global community." It is now 10 years since the FT joined the Nikkei Group. Working in partnership with the FT, we aim to respond to the most exacting needs of our readers and customers and be a resource they can rely on. We will continue to deliver information that helps enrich life and work for all.
Nikkei will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2026. The values that have been upheld by Nikkei's employees throughout our long history remain at the core of what we do. "Independence" stands for our commitment to fairness and impartiality; "Quality" for our constant pursuit of excellence. Through "Innovation," we seek out new opportunities; and by upholding "Diversity" we champion mutual respect and dignity for all. Nikkei's employees are not only experts in their chosen areas, they are committed to these values. As a company, we support every employee as they fulll their potential and contribute to society. We remain rm in our commitment to create a better world and to meet our responsibility as a trusted media organization serving the global community.
