Power BI Vs Tableau
Power BI Vs Tableau

Nowadays Power BI and Tableau are registering their fabulous visualization skills on analytics ground wide and broad, Power BI
offers attractive pricing, extensive add-ons and simple set-up as well as integration. On the other hand, Tableau covers superior
support, mega data storage capability upto 100 GB and easy bridging with leading programming languages for accurate analytics
results.
Tableau is the winner of BI Quadrant, eventually the Microsoft Power BI started its vital run in coming to the foreground in data
analytics market.
Tableau always handles the data in columnar based structure, hence it process the billions rows of data efficiently, but Power BI
premium version can have the capability of handling 10 GB of data only, if we need to feed more than 10 GB means eventually it
needs additional feature of Azure Cloud Service. Focusing on customer support feature, Tableau shares extensive and excellent support
to the users comparing to Power BI tool.
In-Memory Analytics
The core processing speed of the visualization tools are based on their “In-Memory Analytics” engine performance. This is an unique
approach on querying data when it resides from Random Access Memory(RAM) inspite of accessing from physical hard disk. This is
the common core approach in both Tableau and Power BI, but performance level and identity will differ from tool to tool. In Tableau
it referred as “Hyper” and in Power BI it coined as “X-Velocity”. Tableau still lags very far from the “X-Velocity” data modelling
capabilities.
Here, I justified my comparison of Power BI with The Cheetah and Tableau with The Lion in terms of their speed rate.
Forecasting Capability
The most basic form of predictive analytics is Forecasting. In General, the built in Forecasting feature of data visualization tool runs
based on the Exponential smoothing to automatically detect seasonality in data to provide forecasted results from a series of data. In
Tableau, forecasting algorithm will try to find a regular pattern in measures that can be extended into the future. In simple terms its
real world data generating algorithmic process.
Yet, Power BI facilitates forecasting feature for Single value line Charts alone, that too for Power BI desktop version only. But the
working methodology, forecast length, Seasonality of forecasting process are all same as Tableau.
Developers of both Power BI and Tableau are facilitating and improving their integration services in every releases of updated
versions. Eventually Power BI shook hands with Azure Cloud Service (ACS) to facilitate the user for pre-trained ML models on behalf
of greater insights, Power BI can stores the ACS and ML enhanced data flow in Azure data lake storage to support broader access to
the developers of the every organization by leveraging the more advanced tools like Azure Data bricks, while Tableau facilitates the
direct accessibility of API extension services with third party ML platforms of both Windows and Linux versions.
Conclusion,
Tableau and Power BI are the market leaders in the area of data analysing and visualizing process. The appropriate tool for your needs
are dependent on the situation you find yourself in, but in reality both tools have very similar levels of functionality. For most people
either of them is a perfectly valid choice. Both Tableau and Power BI are emerging as the forerunners in BI Quadrants and other BI
tools are yet to reach their mark. In other words, as fast as Power BI can get, Tableau remains the King. But they both Lion
and Cheetah are the most essential part of the data visualization’s ecosystem.
