1. 1 Outline
The EML201 Series electromagnetic log conforms to the technical requirements for the
performance standard determined by IMO Resolution A478 (XII) and also meets type approval
issued by the Transport Ministry of Japan (Type Approval No.2560).
Its principle of operation is the same as that of our ordinary electromagnetic logs to
assure high accuracy and reliability, and has the following features:
(1) Small size and light Weight compared with ordinary Models
(3) Reduction in the number of parts by the employment of highly integrated circuits
including microprocessor, and has no moving parts, thereby achieving high relia-
bility.
(4) Provision of digital speed/distance display unit which displays selectively spe-
ed and distance.

2.2 Each configuration Equipment
2.2. 1 Master unit: LT201
This unit receives ship speed signal from the amplifier to display speed and
distance after speed calibration and also sends various output signals to external
equipments. It also enables manual speed setting. Various displays and operations
are performed on the display/operation panel. For master unit operation and fu-
nctions, see Section 3.

(1) Sensor
This sensor detects and transmits ship speed with respect to water flow.
An electrode is mounted at the sensor end and detects voltage proportional to re-
lative water flow (ship speed with respect to water flow) and the magnetic field
generated from the detection coil.

(1) Start
CD If the sensor is pulled up within the ship bottom valve, project it out of the
valve by the specified length.
~ Open the master unit display/operation panel to turn ON the power supply switch
at the top right of the input/output terminal. Thus, the power is suppllyde to the
whole of the EML201 System to make the system ready to operate.
Q) If the RUN/ADJ select switch on the display/operation panel is turned to the RUN
side, operation status is effected and ship speed and total course are displayed
on the display unit.
@) For distance display, the cumulative value at the previous power-OFF is stored in
the non-volatile memory and therefore cumulation starts from the previous cumula-
• tive value .
(2) Stop
CD The master unit power supply switch is turned "OFF" . Then the analog speed indi-
cator stops, indicating the speed value at power-OFF.
~ When suspending measurement over a long period of time, pull up the sensor within
the ship bottom valuve, then close the valve.

(2) Pressing the SELECT button turns the TOTAL lamp off and turns the TRIP lamp on.
The universal display unit displays the trip distance.
.
&:.
Q) Pressing the SELECT button again turns the TOTAL/TRIP lamp off and the universal
display unit displays the error code.
Note: In the status without an error, no-Err is displayed. In the status with an
error, the factor code is displayed.
CD Pressing the RESET button once whih the trip distance displayed flashes the univ-
ersal display unit.
Note: Pressing any button other than the RESET button with the universal display
unit flashing stops flashing and releases the trip distance resetting.
GD Pressing the RESET button again stops the universal display unit flashing and re-
sets the displayed value. The trip distance starts its cumulating from the time
the RESET button is pressed,

it is created according to all the measured data from the 1st pair to the 3ed
pair.
When conducting milepost measurement again, set the ship switch(SW5) No.8 to ON
and then conduct measurement using the No.2 linearizer table. thereby creating a
linearizer table for both No. 1 and No.2.
5. 2.3 Mersured data cancel
It is possible to cancel measured data on the pair undergoing measurement (the
pair displyed on the ship speed display unit) during milepost measurement.
This operation cancels all the data in one pair to return the sistem to the init-
ial starte (starte befor the measurement start).
This cancel cannot be made under the following conditions:
· During milepost measurement (In milepost IN-OUT)
· During data correction
Measured data cancel is made when milepost measurement is suspended and/or measu-
rement is not successful.
(1) Cancel preparation
