Fabric Relaxation SOP

Fabric Relaxation SOP

Objective
Fabric Relaxation procedure ensure that spandex blend fabrics or the fabric where required
relaxation are relaxed as per the requirement prior to cutting process.
Responsible:
Cutting Team is responsible in doing fabric relaxation procedures under Fabric/ Cutting
Quality team supervision.

Procedure:
1. Based on Order wise cut plan, cutting team to study the fabric composition to decide whether
the fabric required relaxing in unroll form… (If the fabric is spandex blend or
the fabric required to relax based on guidelines from Sample Section). Or Cutting team to check
with Fabric Quality team whether the fabrics to be relaxed prior to cutting.

2. If the fabric rolls required to relax, then the cutting department to issue a requisition  3 days
prior to cutting.

3.Fabric Quality team to verify the fabric requisition and approve the fabric requisition if


all fabric inspection and testing parameters are OK.

4.Upon receipt the fabric rolls, fabric rolls unrolled using fabric inspection machine


under fabric quality team supervisor. Once the fabric is unrolled 100%, then fabric rolls to be
mentioned with relaxation start time along with other details of the fabric Roll (Roll #, Width,
Relaxation start time, etc.).

5.Fabric Relaxation details to be documented in Fabric Relaxation report which will be


verified by cutting QC prior to allowing spreading.

6. Unrolled fabrics not to be tied too tight & fabrics unrolled store it in a breaker trolley and
relaxed for minimum 24 hrs or as required by the customer.
