Questions
Smart Rollout Support SRS
An Introduction
Why SRS?
• Current ad-hoc solutions (eg: using speed test) have many limitations:
• A lot of manual work needed to copy-and-paste results in a document.
• No unified documentation of results.
• Difficult to search/compare/filter the test calls on any criteria.
• No way to check if the test was actually done.
• No way to check how much time was needed to complete the test call
(and costs associated!)
• No way to detect site build issues.
What SRS Is
How: SRS is an Android phone app that runs some call tests to check that
voice and data calls are working and that the antennas have been
connected correctly
Who/when: The Installation/Integration Technician uses SRS immediately
after finishing the integration.
Benefits: Technician can detect any issues while on site and correct
immediately “ First Visit Right”
Overview
• In the SRS App
• Since SRS testing is conducted at the sector level, not the site
level, SRS does not give an overall site sector swap indication.
Instead, the general principle is:
1. User is in the “pie” for sector X but test device locks to sector Y. A Cell
ID mismatch will result.
2. User is in the “pie” for sector Y but test device locks to sector X. A Cell
ID mismatch will result.
• At step 1., it is still not conclusive that there is a swap but after
step 2. We can be sure of the swap. Again, there is no overall
result declaring the sector swap – it must be inferred from the
results for 2 adjacent sectors.
• In the SRS Manager:
• As well as the individual sector measurements, the SRS Manager
has the option to analyze multiple measurements and hence
arrive at a more reliable conclusion for the site as a whole
SRS Measurement Process
“Serving” cell from
received signal
1: Tech/Eng completes
tower/integration work
3: If necessary,
Tech/Eng makes
corrections immediately
2: Tech/Eng moves to
each sector as guided 4: Manager reviews
by the SRS app, locks results before
phone to correct declaring site “OK”
technology/band and
runs SRS tests
How to get started with SRS: Mobile User

Sector swap detection on the SRS App
In the SRS App (in the field): At the Start
Measurement stage
In the SRS App (in the field): After the
measurement upload
Tester correctly located within the “pie”
When you are
in the test area,
“Start
measurement”
is green. Since
SRS knows
(from site
database)
which sector
you are in, it
only presents
the cells at that
location for
testing. This is
the only way to
check sector
swaps.
Outside “Pie”
Conclusion
• Sector swaps can be detected both in the SRS App and the SRS Manager.
• Ideally, it will be caught using the SRS App such that the swap can be
corrected immediately.
