Introductory Message
For the Facilitator:

Welcome to the Empowerment Technologies for Grade 11 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM)
Module on ICT Project for Social Change.

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators from public
institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners meet the standards set
by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and economic constraints in
schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent learning
activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help learners acquire the
needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of the module:

As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You also need
to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage their own learning.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as they do the tasks
included in the module.

For the Learner:

Welcome to the Empowerment Technologies for Grade 11 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM)
Module on ICT Project for Social Change.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has a great influence in our daily living. It
has an important part in the world since we are now in the “information age era”. It truly provides
broader knowledge in gaining and accessing information.
Nowadays, we truly cannot deny the fact that it cannot be separated in our daily needs. For
many reasons, ICT is often studied in the context of how modern communication technologies
affect our society as if it created a "global village," in which people can communicate with
others across the world as if they were just living next to us.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for guided and
independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to process the contents of
the learning resource while being an active learner.

What I Need to Know

This module will assist you to analyze how target or intended users and audiences are expected
to respond to the proposed ICT Project for Social Change on the basis of content, value and
user experience.

As we experience, change is always happening. It begins with how and when we interact with
others. While we accept that change is continuous, we do not have to accept that we are
powerless in its wake. It is in the level in which we should care about the direction of social
change that we should try to figure it out and help to create the kind of "change we wish to see
in the world."

For the learner

Nowadays ICT cannot be separated with our daily needs. It can improve the quality of human
life in a way that it can be used as a learning and education media, the mass communication
media in promoting and campaigning practical and important issues, such as social change.
Social change is a concept many of us take for granted or don't even understand. What
interests me, and what I hope interests you, is our collective power to influence social change.

At the end of this module, you are expected to:

1. create a concept paper in developing ICT Project for social change;
2. plan and conceptualize an ICT project for social changes; and

Lesson Analyze how target or intended users and

audiences are expected to respond to the
4 proposed ICT Project for Social Change on the
basis of content, value and user experience
In traditional project management of ICT projects, the Project Manager is tasked to plan, scope,
estimate, schedule, resource, and control projects, and does typically as a single set of work
tasks.

So before starting a project, you should be able to do an essential paperwork- better known as
CONCEPT PAPER, for you to see if your project is attainable within the given time frame and if
it is significant enough to be made into reality.
What’s In

FIVE (5) ELEMENTS OF A CONCEPT PAPER

MIXED UP: Arrange the letters to form the correct word being described. Write your answers in
your journal.

1. D I N R O U T I C O N T this includes the mission, vision and a brief introduction of your

project.

2. R P U P E O S includes the reasons why the project is worth it, and your
sponsor’s time, effort and money

3. D N T E O I S I R C P includes all the necessary information about the project. In

ICT, it involves the sites you are going to produce and the
purpose of each and how they work in unison.

4. R U P O P T S contains the budget needed for the project. Some concept

papers do not specify any amount requested from the
sponsor.

5. CANOTTC ANIFROIOMNT includes information on how the group can be contacted.

ICT PROJECT PROCESS

A process is a series of steps and decisions involved in the way work is completed. We may not
realize it, but processes are everywhere and in every aspect of our leisure and work.
An ICT Project Process has a purpose of ensuring that ICT projects are managed in a
structured way and also ensuring that ICT projects are fully documented and controlled at all
stages of implementation.

Independent Activity 1

Look at the diagram below. Supply the missing letters to complete each word of the
SIMPLIFIED ICT PROJECT PROCESS OVERVIEW. Copy and write your answers in your
journal.

Independent Assessment 1

Independent Activity 2

Change is experienced by every individual and organization. Change is any alternative in the
current work environment. The alteration may be in the way things are perceived or in how they
are organized, processed, created or maintained.
Social change is the change in society created through social movements as well as external
factors like environmental shifts or technological innovations.
Some would say that improving technology has made our lives easier. Imagine what your day
would be like without the Internet, the automobile, or electricity.
Of course, there are downsides. The increasing gap between the technological haves and have-
nots––sometimes called the digital divide––occurs both locally and globally. Further, there are
added security risks: the loss of privacy, the risk of total system failure and the added
vulnerability created by technological dependence.
