As a health conscious person, you noticed an advertisement in the newspaper on yoga classes in your
neighbourhood. Write a letter to the organizers enquiring about the duration of the course and other relevant
details. You are Swapna/Surendra of 60, RK Puram, New Delhi.
10. Answer any four out of five questions in 40 – 50 words. (3*4 = 12)
(a) What does the poet mean by ‘All his young days into the harbor…’?
(b) Mandela feels that courage is triumph over fear. How would you define courage in this context?
(c) It is said that an animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language. Explain with reference to the
tiger from the poem, ‘A Tiger in the Zoo.’.
(d) How does Chubukov appreciate ‘Squeezer’?
(e) The ‘fight or flight response’ that is, to stay and face a situation or run from it is an automatic reaction to
an event perceived as stressful or harmful. How would you evaluate the young gull’s response on finding
himself off the ledge?

11. Answer any two out of three questions in 40 – 50 words. (3*2=6)


(a) Scientists contribute to make the world a better place. Griffin is an antithesis to this statement. Briefly
justify.
(b) Mme Loisel now knew the horrible life of necessity. Do you think Mme Loisel accepted this change
willingly? Give two reasons in support of your answer.
(c) Why did Hari Singh not make friends?

12. Attempt the following question in 100 – 120 words. (6 marks)


“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion.”
Do you agree? Elaborate this on the basis of the chapter, “Nelson Mandela – A Long Walk to Freedom”.

Or,
Natalya and her father both accused Lomov of telling a lie regarding the Oxen Meadows but when Natalya
came to know that Lomov had come to propose her, she at once wanted him back. This shows her selfishness.
What traits of Natalya’s character are revealed here? Do you like her? Give reasons for your answer.

13. Attempt the following question in 100 – 120 words. (6 marks)


Education means different things to different people. Evaluate how it impacted the young thief in the story.

Or,

‘Privilege often confuses actual needs for perceived ones.’ Evaluate this statement with reference to Mrs
Pumphrey.
