MBCians’ Niche: Embracing the Research Culture

Power Point Presentation Format

Below are guidelines for the power point presentation. Please note that you
are given 10-12 minutes to present, so plan your ppt in such a way that you
can finish within the given time.

Slide 1: Title of the presentation; author/s and highest degree/s; your


institution and address; the event, venue, place, and dates

Slide 2: Introduction (Background of the study that will set the stage for
your topic and explain it in a nutshell. You may include pictures, quotes,
statistics legal bases, relevant pronouncements from authorities, and results
of the seminal works)

Slide 3: Problem Statement (Presentation of the problem situation in global,


national, and local scale, existence of unsatisfactory condition, pinpoint the
exact problem you plan to focus on, and link your topic to your purpose
statement)

Slide 4: Purpose of the Study (Explain the desire to improve something,


motives and justification to conduct the study, focus on addressing the
research problem, and write a clinching statement to relate the background of
the study to the research problem)

Slide 5: Research Questions (State in interrogative form, present the general


problem first, present 2-5 specific research questions, and state using third
person pronoun)

Slide 6: Theoretical Framework/s (Present the most relevant theory/ies,


relate to your study or variables, and present in brief paragraph or using
diagram)

Slide 7 - 8: Methodology (specific qualitative research design, research


setting, participants and sampling procedure, data collection methods and
procedures, data analysis, how you ensured trustworthiness [optional])
Present all the components of the methodology, describe each part concisely,
use diagram, flowchart or organizer to present the data gathering procedures.

Slides 9 - 12: Findings and Discussion; (present the salient results only,
summarize tables if needed, use graph, tables, diagrams for quantitative
study; themes and categories for QLR)

Slide 13: Conclusion (State the conclusion concisely either in bullet or


paragraph format)
Slide 14: Recommendations or Future Directions (Clearly state the
recommendations, replacability,and further study)

Last slide: Your name, highest degree, email address (optional) and
telephone number (optional)

(a) Avoid long texts.


(b) Limit text colors to 2-3.
(c) Avoid graphics or animations that distract your audience.
(d) Use Tahoma 28pt and above
(e) Only float in, fly in, or appear may be used among the animation
(f) Do not use transition or sound effect unless necessary
