Practice E
It’s two weeks since we moved to our new address in Tai Po from our old home at
King’s Road in North Point, and I’m finally starting to get used to our new life here.
It’s true that it’s not easy for all of us. My mum needs to get in bed at six every morning to get to
work on time. My brother and I are luckier—our new school is only 15 minutes’ walk away. Better still, there is
a park at the corner of the street. Sometimes I take a stroll in the park with my new school friends
at lunchtime. However, during the first two weeks in Tai Po, my brother and I felt bored at weekends, because
there didn’t seem to be anything interesting happening in the neighbourhood.
Yet things are getting better now. We found out that it was easier to get around the district with
our bikes, and we discovered a lot of fun places. There is, for example, a traditional market. It is only five
minutes’ walk to our home. There you can find stalls selling delicious fish balls. Some of the stalls have
even been featured on TV!
Another favourite place of mine is a cafeteria on the ground floor of a nearby building. It occupies a
small space of two shops—a bank on the left and a grocers on the right. On the
cafeteria it is very cosy and comfortable.
