GRBT-23 (Autonomous) II Year
Course Code DIGITAL LOGIC & COMPUTER ORGANIZATION I/II Semester
(Common to CSE & CSE (Allied Branches))

Teaching Total contact hours-48 L T P C

Prerequisite(s): --- 3 0 0 3

Course Objectives:
The main objectives of the course is to
• provide students with a comprehensive understanding of digital logic design
principles and computer organization fundamentals
• Describe memory hierarchy concepts
• Explain input/output (I/O) systems and their interaction with the CPU,
memory, and peripheral devices

Course Outcomes:
After completion of the course student will be able to
CO-1. Efficiently represent data using binary, octal, hexadecimal numbers, and
signed binary numbers.
CO-2. Design and analyze combinational logic circuits, minimizing logic
expressions using Karnaugh maps.
CO-3. Understand and apply sequential circuits, including flip-flops, binary
counters, registers, and shift registers.
CO-4. Grasp computer architecture concepts such as computer types, functional
units, bus structures, and Von-Neumann architecture.
CO-5. Perform computer arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction,
multiplication, division, and floating-point operations, and comprehend
input/output organization and control mechanisms.
