how to create them in both single-entry and double-entry modes, along with the associated
shortcut keys
Types of Vouchers in Tally
Tally includes several predefined vouchers, but you can also create new ones as per the
requirements of your business. Some of the vouchers are as follows:
a) Sales Voucher
o Records sales transactions.
o Both credit and cash sales can be recorded. Includes GST, discounts, etc.
b) Purchase Voucher
o Records purchases of goods and services.
o Both credit and cash purchases can be entered.
c) Payment Voucher
o Records payment transactions, such as payments to suppliers or expenses.
o Cash, bank, or other payment methods can be used.
d) Receipt Voucher
o Records receipts from customers or any other income.
o Can be cash or bank receipts.
e) Contra Voucher
o Used for transactions between cash and bank accounts.
o Typically used for bank deposits or withdrawals.
f) Journal Voucher
o Non-cash transactions like adjustments, provisions, depreciation, etc.
g) Credit Note Voucher
o Records sales returns or adjustments against previous sales.
h) Debit Note Voucher
o Records purchase returns or adjustments against previous purchases.

a) Single Entry Mode Single Entry mode is simpler and is mainly used for novice users or in
small businesses.
Here, you only need to select one ledger account, either debit or credit, and Tally
automatically balances the entry by showing the other ledger.
