Knitting Pattern W555 - Intermediate

Finished Measurements:
Bust: 37”, 40”, 44”, 49”

Materials:
• Cascade Yarns Elysian: 60% Superwash Merino Wool
/ 40% Acrylic; 100 g (3.5 oz) / 219 yds (200 m); 7 (8, 9, 10)
skeins color #18 White Swan
• US 6 & 7/ 16” circular and DPN knitting
• needles in both sizes
• Cable needle
• Yarn needle

Gauge:
20 sts x 24 rows = 4” (10 cm) in double seed stitch

Abbreviations:
K = Knit
BO = Bind Off P = Purl
CO = Cast On PM = Place Marker
C2L = Skip 1 st, Knit into the back of the 2nd st and RS = Right Side
leave on the needle, knit in the front of the 1st st St(s) = Stitch(es)
and take both sts off needle. T3B = Slip next st onto cable needle and hold at back of
C3F = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in work, knit next 2 sts from left-handed
front, K next st, K 2 sts from cable needle. needle, then purl st from cable needle.
C4B = Slip 2 sts onto a cable needle and hold in back, T3F = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at

Double Seed Stitch: Plait pattern, P2, C2L, P2, PM, work Double Seed st
Row 1: *[K1, P1]; repeat from * to end of row. for 19 (25, 30, 35) sts.
Row 2: K on the K sts, P on the P sts across as they appear.
Row 3: *[P1, K1]; repeat from * to end of row. See table below:
Row 4: K on the K sts, P on the P sts across as they appear.
Repeat 4 rows for pattern.

6 Stitch Plait:
Row 1 (RS): C4F, K2.
Row 2 (WS): P all sts.
Row 3 (RS): K2, C4B.
Row 4 (WS): P all sts.

Sweater Back:
With size 6 needles, CO 91 (103, 111, 121) sts.
Work in [K1, P1] Ribbing for 2½” increasing to 102 (115,
125, 135) sts on last wrong side row.
Change to US 7 needles and begin patterns as follows:
Work Double Seed st for 19 (25, 30, 35) sts, PM, P2, C2L,
P2, work Row 1 of 6 Stitch Plait pattern, P2, PM,
work Row 1 of Cable Panel, PM, P2, work Row 1 of 6 Stitch

Continue as established, working sts on all WS rows as to US 7 needles and work until collar measures 6”
they appear, until back measures 15½” (15½”, 16”, or desired length.
16”) or desired length to armhole. BO loosely in ribbing.
PM at sides to indicate armhole placement and continue
until armhole measures 10” (10½”, 11”, 11½”).
BO all sts in pattern. Finishing:
Weave in all ends.
Wet block to measurements as needed.
Sweater Front:
Sew sleeves to body and side seams.
Work as for back until 5½” (6”, 6”, 6”) above armhole
marker. Steam slightly if needed.

Shape Neck:
Work to center 19 (19, 21, 21) sts. Add another ball and BO
these center sts. Work to end of row.
Working both sides at once, BO 2 sts at each neck edge 3
(3,3,3) times, then 1 st at each neck edge every
other row 6 (6, 8, 9) times.
Work until front measures same as back to top and BO in
pattern.

Sleeves:
With US 6 needles, CO 43 (43, 45, 56) sts and work in [K1,
P1] Ribbing for 2½” increasing to 54 (54, 58, 62) sts
on the last WS row. Change to larger size needles.
Work sleeves in Double Seed st for 18 (18, 20, 22) sts, PM,
P2, C2L, P2, work row 1 of 6 Stitch Plait pattern, P2,
C2L, P2, PM, work Double Seed st to end.

Work in patterns as established while increasing as


follows:
Increase 1 st each side every 2nd (2nd , 2nd, 3rd) row 10
(14, 16, 30) times. -74 (82, 90, 122) sts
Increase 1 st each side every 4th (4th, 4th, 0) row 16 (15,
14, 0) times. -106 (112, 118, 122) sts
Continue in pattern until sleeve measures 17½” (18”, 18”,
18½”).
BO in pattern.
Sew front to back at shoulders.

Collar:
With US 6 circular or DPn needles, and RS facing at center
back, pick up and K110 (116, 130, 136) sts evenly
around neck edge.
Join and work in [K1, P1] Ribbing in the rnd for 2”, change
