a greater appreciation for the everyday systems and people—especially those in blue-collar jobs
—who work tirelessly to sustain our society but often go unrecognized. Learning about the
interconnectedness of scientific progress, labor, and societal well-being will help me value not
only innovation but also the human effort behind it. Ultimately, I want this class to help me grow
into a more informed, compassionate, and socially responsible individual who recognizes the
