University Hub: A Proposed Multi-purpose Facility for Co-Working, Recreation, Sports, and
Professional Growth in Manila

Overview of the Project:

The University Hub is a holistic, multi-functional facility that will cater to students and young
professionals in the City of Manila. This new development features co-working, sports facilities,
art studios, community areas, and a dedicated BPO office. The facility provides diverse
opportunities for academic growth, creative expression, recreational, and professional
workspaces. With its strategic location near universities, the hub aims to create an environment
that fosters well-being, productivity, and personal development, while also accommodating the
needs of Manila’s growing professional community.

Statement of the Problem:

Students and young professionals in Manila face challenges in finding accessible spaces that
suit their needs in terms of learning, sports, creativity, and professional work. Currently, the
existing facilities are not connected and therefore cause inefficiencies, limiting personal and
professional development. A diverse space combining these functions is therefore needed to
overcome these challenges and improve the urban experience.

Research Questions:
1. How can architectural design create an overall facility that meets the requirements of
academics, recreation, creativity, and professional needs among the students and young
professionals?
2. How can the design ensure co-working spaces, sports facilities, art studios, and BPO
offices in a single facility?
3. How would it facilitate the overall layout of the spaces towards collaborations and
community engagement in a multifunctional hub?
4. What architectural features enhance the productivity and well-being of a facility's users?
5. How might this student hub be designed to change throughout the day, serving different
student needs, and be fluid in the face of diverse student needs across various stages of
the academic year?

Revitalizing Workspaces: A Proposed Wellness-Centered Office Space Model in Pasig City,
Metro Manila

Overview of the Project:

Corporate office environments in Pasig City’s older high-rise buildings often contribute to
employee stress, reduced productivity, and poor mental health due to limited natural light,
outdated layouts, and inadequate connection to nature.

This study examines how architectural elements like lighting, ventilation, and spatial design
impact employee well-being. By analyzing these factors, the research aims to propose
strategies for transforming outdated office spaces into healthier, more productive environments,
contributing to the improvement of urban workplace design.

Statement of the Problem:

How can specific architectural elements and design strategies enhance employee well-being in
Pasig City's corporate office spaces, and what measurable impacts do these design elements
have on productivity, job satisfaction, and mental health among office workers.

Research Questions:
1. What architectural elements in older corporate office spaces significantly influence
employee well-being?
2. How do design strategies such as lighting, ventilation, spatial layout, and material
selection impact productivity, job satisfaction, and mental health?
3. Are there notable differences in the well-being metrics of office workers in these
environments?
4. What measurable improvements can be achieved by incorporating modern design
interventions into older office spaces?
5. How do employee perceptions of their workplace environment correlate with their overall
job performance and mental health?

Reconnecting to the Past: An Archeological Institute as a Place for Cultural Remembrance in
the Philippines

Overview of the Project:

This project proposes the creation of an archaeological institute in the Philippines that serves as
both a research hub and a place for cultural remembrance. The aim is to establish a space
where historical artifacts and indigenous knowledge can be preserved, studied, and showcased.
By fostering connections between the past and the present, this institute will provide a platform
for educating the public on the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines, promoting national
identity, and encouraging dialogue on the importance of cultural preservation.

Statement of the Problem:

How can an archaeological institute, designed to preserve and study the Philippines' cultural
heritage, serve as a place for cultural remembrance, and what architectural elements can
effectively bridge the gap between the past and the present while engaging both local
communities and visitors in the ongoing narrative of the nation's history?

Research Questions:
1. What architectural design strategies can effectively integrate the preservation of
historical artifacts with the educational and cultural remembrance functions of an
archaeological institute in the Philippines?
2. How can the design of the institute facilitate public engagement with the cultural heritage
of the Philippines?
3. What role can the archaeological institute play in fostering national pride and
understanding of indigenous cultures?
4. How can modern architectural elements and sustainable practices be incorporated into
the design while maintaining a connection to traditional Filipino architectural aesthetics?
5. What are the potential impacts of the archaeological institute on local communities, both
in terms of cultural awareness and economic development?
