ELLIPTICAL
Elliptical is a merger of two sentence by eliminating the
same predicate to form a compound sentance. Part
predicate omitted to avoid repetition of words that do not
need
1. Merging aquivalent
Rumus positive
Sentence 1 +and + S2 + aux. verb + too

Sentence 1+ and + so + aux. verb + S2

Rumus negative
Sentence 1 + and + S2 + aux. verb + not + either

Sentence 1 + and + neither + aux. verb + S2


Positive sentances using too and so to combine
sentances

Example :
Hariadnya is a teacher and Mardika is too.

Hariadnya is a teacher and so is Mardika.

Example :

Negative sentances using either dan neither.

I dont eat chicken and Harry doesnt either.


I dont eat chicken and neither does Harry.
2. Merging equivalent opposite
Sentence 1 (+) + but/while + S2 + aux.

verb + not
Sentence 1 (-) + but/while + S2 + aux. verb

xample :
We dont have to return the book tomorrow

while he has.
He has to return the book tomorrow but we

dont.
Present tanse: is , am , are
I am tall,and so is she
I am tall, and she is to
My mother is in jakarta now. My father is in
jakarta now,
My mother is in jakarta now, and so is my father
My mother is in jakarta now, and my father is
too

He isnt studying English and she isnt either.

PAST TANSE : was and
were

Present Continuous

You are speaking . He is speaking

Simple Future tense
They will sleep . She will sleep
