FloGrappling have just announced that they have agreed a brand new broadcasting deal with Brazilian channel Combate that will last throughout 2023. This should have a huge effect on the growth of BJJ in it’s homeland of Brazil, as tournaments and documentaries will now be broadcasted on a major network for everyone to see. While the sport is obviously very popular in Brazil as it is, further growth is possible and could only be a benefit to individual gym-owners and the BJJ community as a whole. It’s also a beneficial deal for Combate, who have just gained access to a whole new library of content to show to their viewers as regular programming.

The first broadcast that will happen as part of this new deal with FloGrappling will take place on May 22nd, 2023 when Combate will air the full Who’s Number One 18 event replay. Although the event took place on May 18th originally, it has only been available to watch behind the FloGrappling paywall so it will effectively be ‘new’ content to viewers without a subscription. The event itself was headlined by the first gi match in the promotion’s history between Nicholas Meregali and Pedro Marinho, while featuring several other exciting superfights during the build-up to the main event.

This new broadcast deal is the latest in a stream of strong moves from the team at FloGrappling in fairness, and the organization has been hitting a stride lately. There were some concerns at the beginning of 2023 when ADCC announced that they were leaving the platform for a new home at UFC Fight Pass, but things have really turned around since then. Not only did FloGrappling announce that they were increasing their IBJJF offerings by streaming Brasileiro for the very first time, but ADCC also reversed the decision and returned to FloGrappling. It’ll be interesting to see what other deals the organization is able to reveal as time goes on.

Combate announced the new broadcasting deal with FloGrappling in a post to their official Instagram account:
