7 SHEET
Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC) Create and Interpret visual representation of
the motion of objects such as tape charts and motion graphs.
MELC Code: (S7FE-IIIa-3 )
DISCUSSION
The position of an object can be described in many ways. You can use words
through describing the motion of an object from the reference point. You can also use
visuals, like diagrams or graphs. In this module we will be able to describe motions
through representations by using the motion graph and tape charts.
Distance-time graphs
If an object moves along a straight line, the distance travelled can be represented by a
distance-time graph.
In a distance-time graph, the slope of the line is equal to the speed of the object. The
greater the slope (and the steeper the line) the faster the object is moving.
1
A Increasing Increasing
B Constant Constant
C Decreasing Decreasing
Directions: Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if is not. Write
your answer before the number.
2
_________ 1. The graph that shows a slope in a distance-time graph means speed.
_________ 2. A roller coaster does not move in one direction.
