A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 7

May 2, 2022

I. Objectives: At the end of a 60-minute lesson in Science, the students are expected to:

A. Identify the layers of the atmosphere;

B. Differentiate the layers of the atmosphere based on variation of temperature; and
C. Explain the significance of the layers and the boundaries between them
D. Participate actively in classroom discussion.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Interactions in the atmosphere: Layers of the earth’s atmosphere

B. Reference: Science 7 Module
C. Materials: Globe, Clip Arts, Activity Sheets, and Colors
D. Skills to be Developed: Analyzing and Categorizing

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer
2. Customary Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance

B. Motivation

Before we proceed to our discussion class, I

have here a blank part of earth’s atmosphere.

what you’re going to do class is you need to

identify which part of the earths layer is in the
blank by coloring it base on the legend of the
colors given.

And afterwards we were going to check it.

Are you ready class? Yes sir!

You can all starts now.

C. Presentation of the Lesson

Since we are done with our activity class I
want you to know that the activity that we did
has something to do with our topic for today
which is Interactions in the atmosphere:
Layers of the earth’s atmosphere.

Are you now ready class to proceed to the

Yes Sir!
discussion?

D. Development of the Lesson

Earth is the only planet that is known to sustain

life in our solar system. One of the factors that
make our planet habitable is its atmosphere. The
atmosphere is the blanket or envelope of gases
surrounding the earth. The atmosphere that
surrounds our planet is very important. It keeps
us warm, give us oxygen for breath. And in this
world weather happens. It also keeps the overall
temperature of the Earth fairly steady and
especially between night and day.
The atmosphere consists of several different

78% Nitrogen when you want percent oxygen.
The remaining 1% are other gases press at a
smaller amount, hence they are called trace
gases. These include carbon dioxide, inert gases,
hydrogen, methane, ozone and others.

Earth's atmosphere is made up of different layers,

Troposphere sir!
And what are those layers again class? Stratosphere sir!
Mesosphere sir!
Thermosphere sir!
Exosphere sir!

Very good, all of your answers are correct!

The basis of scientists in dividing the atmosphere

into different layers is the change of temperature
with high the lowest layer is known as the
troposphere. It is the layer where we live. It
makes up approximately 75% of the total mass of
the atmosphere and contains 99% of the
atmosphere Swafford the troposphere is the layer
where rain clouds and water report are found.

At a spur weather phenomenon takes place. The

air in this layer is constantly moving. This is the
reason why airplanes experience a bumpy ride,
which is known as turbulence that temperature in
this region decreases as altitude resets.
The next layer is the stratosphere. The flow of air
in this layer is more stable than the flow of air in
the troposphere. Hence, you can fly an aircraft
smoothly in this layer that temperature in the
stratosphere increases with altitude.

The ozone layer is found in the stratosphere. The

ozone layer is very important since it protects us
from the harmful ultraviolet rays coming from the
sun. The high energy ultraviolet radiation can
damage cells of living organisms, and can cause
sunburn and skin cancer.

The massive sphere is the next layer of the

atmosphere. The temperature in this layer
decreases without the choice. It is also the
coldest layer of the atmosphere surrounding the
earth. The Mesosphere burns out most meters

and asteroids before they reach the Earth's planet, which can cause disasters sir.
surface.

What do you think will happen if there is no

mesosphere?

Correct!
Above the Nessus fear is the next near called the
thermosphere.

The thermosphere is compared to the closer to

the sign any absorbs a large amount of solar
radiation. The temperature in this layer increases
tremendously as the distance from the earth
becomes greater orbiting around this layer is the
International Space Station is space shuttles also
fly in this area.

The ionosphere, which is an iron rich region, is

found within the thermosphere. Our aura displays
can be seen in the ionosphere. Our auras are
bands of light with different colors. They are
called our aurora borealis in the north and our
Aurora Australis. In the south.

The last layer which merges into outer space is

the extra sphere. That temperature in this region
varies from very high to very cold. The exit
sphere is perfect for placing artificial satellites, as
there is little friction. They can orbit easily without
being disrupted.

And those are the different layers of the

atmosphere is starting from the ground we have
Troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere,
thermosphere, and exits here.

E. Application
Directions: Complete the graphic organizer
below by writing the five layers of the
atmosphere on the blank space after the
number in an orderly manner and draw what
is happening in each layer on the given space
in the box. The answer for item no. 1 has
already been provided for you as your guide.

F.

The atmosphere is made of gases that are

essential for photosynthesis and other life
activities. The atmosphere is a crucial part of the
water cycle. It is an important reservoir for water,

of the atmosphere class?

Who can share his/her thoughts?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Let’s

give her a coca cola clap!

G. Generalization

An atmosphere is a blanket of gases that

surrounds Earth. It is held near the surface of
the planet by Earth’s gravitational attraction.
Argon, oxygen and nitrogen from the three
main constitutions of the atmosphere.
The atmosphere has five distinct layers that
are determined by the changes in temperature
that happen with increasing altitude. Layers of
Earth’s atmosphere are divided into five
different layers as:

 Exosphere
 Thermosphere
 Mesosphere
 Stratosphere
 Troposphere

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Write the word “Fact” if the

statement is true and “Bluff” if the
statement is false. ____________1.
Meteors burn up in the mesosphere.
____________2. Exosphere is the upper
limit of our atmosphere.
____________3. Satellites are stationed in
the troposphere.
____________4. Aircraft flying through the
stratosphere may have a bumpy ride as
what we knew as turbulence.
____________5. Troposphere contains
most of the water vapor. 10
____________6. It is in the stratosphere
where we can find the ozone layer.
____________7. Space shuttles fly in
stratosphere. ____________8. Air in
troposphere is very thin and cold.
____________9. Exosphere merges into
space. ____________10. Auroras can be
found in thermosphere. Goodbye sir!
