(a) Show that for the free fall of a body, the sum of the mechanical energy at any point in this path

suspended at the 10 cm mark. Where a weight of 100 gf must be suspended to balance the metre
scale? (Draw diagram for the arrangement) [3]
(c) A pulley system with velocity ratio 4 is used to lift a load 100 kgf through a vertical height of
15 m. The effort required to do so is 40 kgf which is applied in the downward direction. [4]

(a) Water falls from a height of 50 m. Calculate the rise in the temperature of water when it strikes

(b) Find the result of mixing equal mass of ice and water at -100C and 600C respectively? (Specific
