The Goblin Thing

By Jodie Chadwick

Thank you for purchasing my pattern. This pattern is for personal use only. Please
do not redistribute, sell or copy this pattern or parts of this pattern in any way. You
may sell the finished product from this pattern but please give credit to me as the
designer.

I try to keep my prices for my patterns as low as possible to enable everybody the
chance at making one of my unique designs. Just because my prices are low doesn’t
mean the pattern should be low quality. I put my heart into everything I make. I have
tried to make my patterns as simple as possible so if you have any problems or think
of a way I could improve, please get in touch. I love to hear your feedback, good or
bad, and I especially like to see the outcome of my patterns.

This pattern is written using UK terminology. There is a difference between UK

and US terminology. I have attached a conversion chart at the end of this
pattern to help you.

Stitches which may be used;

Ch – Chain
Mr – Magic Ring
St - Stitch
Dc – Double crochet
Inc – increase (two dc in one st)
Dec – decrease (dc two stitches together)
Tc – Treble Crochet
Htc – Half Treble Crochet
5tcc – 5treble crochet cluster –only half finish each treble and then finish
all five together.
BLO – Back loop only
FLO – Front loop only
Sl st – Slip stitch
FO – Finish off

For this pattern I have used;

1 x 100g ball Hayfield Bonus Aran in shade Neon 0884

A small amount of Aran in a lemon colour for the inner ear and white for
the fangs
Stuffing (Fiberfil)
15mm safety eyes
Hook – 3.75mm
Needle
Scissors
Stitch Markers

We will be working in continuous rounds throughout this pattern.

When made using the same yarn and hook size as mentioned above
your Goblin will be approximately 20cm from bottom of the foot to tip of
the ear. As with all crochet, if you use thicker yarn and a bigger hook,
your Goblin will be bigger. If you use smaller yarn and hook, your Goblin
will be smaller.

Insert the safety eyes between rounds 10 and 11 above the BLO (round 14).
The BLO will form the mouth so make sure the eyes are evenly spaced over
the mouth. I have placed mine 5 stitches from either side of the mouth. Start
stuffing the head. Add more stuffing as you work your way to close.

Finish off. Pick up the remaining 6 stitches with a needle and the yarn tail and pull
tightly to close the hole.

Mouth
With the top of the head towards you, attach your main colour yarn into the front
loops of round 14, start on the right. Do 1dc into each of the 20 front loops. FO. Hide

Use a small amount of white yarn to embroider the fangs.

Ears
Do 2 in the main colour and 2 in the inner ear colour.

1. 6dc in mr (6)

4. (3dc, 1inc) x 6 (30)
5. (4dc, 1inc) x 6 (36)

FO. Sew in all of the yarn tails.

Place one main colour circle and one inner ear colour circle together with the right
side facing outwards and making sure the stitches line up. With the inner ear colour
facing you, attach the main colour and dc in each stitch, going through both circles.
When you have dc all the way around, slip stitch into the first dc. Fold the ear in half
and do 5dc, going through both sides of the ear, see pictures.

Pin the ears between rounds 9 and 15, slightly angled so that the inner ear is shown
well when looking from the front.
