Introduction
One of the most important things to remember in
reading and writing is to understand the different
grammatical expressions. These expressions or signals
are important to be able to connect and achieve a
good flow of thoughts. They basically serve as
structural keywords to help the readers know exactly
the points or ideas present in what they are reading.
Also, it serves as a bridge for the writers to create
deeper connections between the text and the reader.
What is the use of grammatical
signals and expressions?

 The use of signal words or expressions can


reveal a particular pattern of development.

 They show relationship between or among


ideas.

is the manner, pattern
or method by which a
writer or speaker
explains his main idea
about a topic.

are words used by writers
and speakers that give hints
or clues of what will follow
or happen next in a

That is when a painful sensation resonates in
your head after eating something cold (usually ice
cream) on a hot day.
This pain is caused by the dilation of a nerve
center in the roof of your mouth. The nerve is
overreacting to the cold by trying to heat your brain.
Ice- cream headaches have turned many smiles
to frowns.
General to Specific

Travelling abroad is important for two reasons. First,


you can learn new things. For example, you can learn a
new language. People sometimes travel just to learn
English in Europe or USA.
Second, travelling is interesting. People do many
things such as sightseeing or shopping. You can buy new
things or see new places.
For these two reasons, travelling abroad is good.
Claim & Counterclaim

Some people love eating meat.


However, human beings are omnivores, and
therefore our diets require very little to no meat to be
viable.
Based on the FDA research, too much eating of meat
can lead to faster aging and death.
As human beings, we have to control over our eating
habits and eat more vegetables and fruits.
Problem & Solution

The places in the Philippines experience flood


during rainy season.
To resolve this, the government has started to
build canals where flood may flow.
Another way is to plant more trees.
Lastly, people have to stop mining so that the
ground will not fall apart.
