Item Category in PO - SAP Community

The document discusses how in a custom PO type in their SAP system, the item category field is hidden at the item level. The answers explain that this is likely configured in the screen layout definition for that particular PO document type, and the item category determines what fields are mandatory. Business scenarios where item category may not be needed include stock transfers or services.

As such item category dervies the business case scenario and it will determine which process you
0 are doing.

So I am afraid, item category cannot be ignored..even when you do normal standard PO, item
category is used, but it is blank.

If this is not you are looking, please explain it so that we will try to answer the same.

BR,

Krishna

Hi Kumar,
0
You cannot control hiding Item Category in the screen layout, you can only make it required,
optional or display and this is not wrt the doc type unless its controlled by a custom progeam.

It seems in your case it is happening with user specific auths. Kindly check and revert.

I am a super user and have full authorizations across the system. Is there anything specific in authorizations that I need to
check. Please advise.

Thanks
