Enumerate the opportunities (positive effects) and challenges (threats or negative effects) brought by media

C. Establishing a purpose for the Activity: “Spell-It”


lesson (ENGAGE) 1. The students will perform a Spelling activity
2. They will be grouped through “The Boat is Sinking”
3. The teacher will state a math problem, and the answer will be the number of each group (like a “the
boat sinking” game:
a. If the total cost of 4 ice cream you bought was 16, how much does each ice cream costs? “4”
Numeracy:
b. What is the square root of 25, minus 3? “2”
Solving math problem.
c. If an apple cost 12 each, how many can you get if you have 120? “10”
4. After the students were grouped, they will be given a bond paper, & felt-tip pen.
5. The group will spell the required word by holding the tip of each string and writing the word in the
bond paper. Collaboration and teamwork is required for this activity. A picture/video will be flashed in
the projector as a sample on how to do it.
6. The group who’s done writing the word will stand and clap.
7. These are the words that they need to spell:
a. Challenges -Is something new and difficult which requires great effort and determination.

Media acts as watchdog to protect public interest against malpractice and create public awareness.

The political landscape has changed quite a bit in the last couple of decades. The internet has played a large role
in this transformation. Social media, in particular, is now a serious factor in political campaigns and in the way
people think about issues.
