9. The space between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor is completely filled in two
of the capacitor is same in the two cases. Obtain the relationship between 𝐾,
shown in the figure. The capacitance
𝐾1 and 𝐾2.
10. In a network, four capacitors , , and are connected as shown in the figur
11. Four electric charges +q,+q,−q and −q are placed at the corners of a
square of side 2L (see figure). Calculate the electric potential at point A,
midway between the two charges +q and +q?
12. Two charges 14 μC and −4 μC are placed at (−12 cm,0,0) and (12
cm,0,0) in an external electric field E=(B/r2), where B=1.2×106 N/Cm2 and r is in metres.
Calculate the electrostatic potential energy of the given configuration.
13. Obtain an expression for electrostatic potential energy of a system of three charges q, 2q and -3q
placed at the vertices of an equilateral triangle of side ‘a’.
15. A 200 F parallel plate capacitor having plate separation of 5 mm is charged by a 100 V dc
source. It remains connected to the source. Using an insulated handle, the distance between the
plates is doubled and a dielectric slab of thickness 5 mm and dielectric constant 10 is introduced
between the plates. Explain with reason, how the (i) capacitance, (ii) electric field between the
plates, (iii) energy density of the capacitor will change?
16. A 12 pF capacitor is connected to a 50V battery. How much electrostatic energy is stored in the
capacitor? If another capacitor of 6 pF connected in series with it with the same battery connected
across the combination, find the charge stored and potential difference across each capacitor.
