Chassis: 1531
Understood to be the first 6CM constructed, this example was campaigned by the factory team during the 1936 season. It debuted in the Monaco Grand Prix in the hands of Gino Rovere. It retired with a broken accelerator cable. Chassis 1531 was then entrusted to Count Carlo Felice Trossi, who was a regular winner with the car including during the Eifelrennen at the Nürburgring. Sold to its first private owner, Piero Dusio, ahead of the 1937 season, it continued to be raced through to the 1938 season. In 1939, it was with Turinese racing driver Andrea Brezzi, who had it fitted with a four-cylinder, supercharged engine from 4CM chassis 1554. It was raced in this guise until the outbreak of the War and then re-appeared in 1946 with Harry Schell. Its final contemporary outings came in 1949 when it was raced by a young Belgian driver in local hillclimbs. Among the subsequent owners were Belgian Formula 1 driver André Pilette, English engineer and racing driver Ken Rudd and American collector Joel E. Finn. In 1989, it was acquired by English historic racer Robin Lodge. He first raced the car in the 2000 Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or. It was subsequently owned and raced by Italians Tommaso Gelmini and Federico Buratti, before it joined the collection of a Swiss historic racer. Still fitted with the four-cylinder engine fitted in period, he successfully campaigned the car in the 2018 and 2022 Monaco Historic Grand Prix. In 2022, he scored a second-place finish at Monaco. In 2025, it was consigned to the inaugural Broad Arrow Auctions Villa d’Este sale.
