Through Heini Mader, this T297 was sold new to French racer Dominique Lacaud. He entered the BMW-engined car with backing from Gitanes in the 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans. Starting 30th, it was not classified in the end. It made two further appearances at Le Mans, failing to finish in 1979 and then not making the grid in 1980. It was also used by Lacaud in hillclimb events and continued to do so after its last Le Mans appearance. In the hands of Luis Fuertes Martinez, it campaigned into the 1990s. More recently, it has been American ownership and restored to its 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans livery and used in historic racing.
