This experience allows me to challenge myself in facing the real life in the real world
as regards to my future carrier.
At first, I was so nervous and I felt like I’m trembling because my heart beats fast. But
as my discussion went on, I started to calm and able to fought and surpassed my
nervousness. I wasn’t able to finish until the fifth part of my lesson plan in one session
because it is really true that during teaching-learning process, there will be many
things/situations happen beyond your expected plan, and you can’t prevent it from
happening. There were many factors that can distract our discussion, and can distract
student’s attention. But despite all of those, I was still able to finish my lesson successfully. I
was happy of my evaluation from my CT and her comments.
This experience taught me a lot of things. It made me proud of myself for surpassing
successfully which I considered as one of the challenges in life. Though I am still far from
being a license teacher, this experienced gave me an opportunity to enhanced my knowledge
and skills, helped me to be more motivated to become a teacher, and gave me more reasons
to love teaching and be a teacher someday.

LEARNING TASK

Articulating My Personal Philosophy of Teaching

Desired Learning Outcomes

 Articulate a personal philosophy of teaching that is learner-centered
 Demonstrate behaviors that uphold the dignity of teaching as a profession by
exhibiting qualities such as caring attitude, resect, and integrity
 See opportunities to establish professional links with colleagues.
 Demonstrate motivation to realize professional development goals based on the
Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers

Essential Questions
 What is your personal philosophy of teaching?
 What behaviors must be exhibited by professional teachers?
 How do we establish professional links with colleagues?
 How can you concretize the professional development goals based on the
Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST)

Understandings
A personal teaching philosophy is a statement of beliefs and attitudes relative to
purpose of education and role of teaching.
According to Stephen Brookfield in his boo the Skillful Teacher (1990) the development
of a teaching philosophy can be used for several purposes.
 Personal Purpose – a clean picture of why you are doing what you are doing what you
are doing that you can call up at points of crisis. This is crucial to your personal sanity
and morals.
 Pedagogical Purpose – knowing clearly what kind of dent/niche you want to make in
the word that you must continually as yourself. The fundamental evaluative questions
of all: “What effect am I having on students and their learning?’

TIPS ON WRITING Personal Teaching Philosophy

 There is no required content or set format.
 It is 1-2 pages in length.
 Use present tense.
 Avoid technical terms.
 Include teaching strategies and methods to help people “sell” in the classroom.
 Make it memorable and unique.
 Our own philosophy.

Things to Remember When Writing a Philosophy Statement

 Reasons why you want to become a teacher
 Duties and responsibilities of an effective teacher
 Beliefs about how students learn
 Approaches methods and strategies which are needed in effective teaching
 Views of different stakeholders in teaching and learning
 Theories or philosophies of teaching and learning that are similar to your ideas
 Reasons why teaching is the most important profession
 Challenges/obstacles of teaching which you want to overcome

childhood education. Pearson educ. Inc.
My Performance Tasks
PERFORMANCE TASK 1
Observe your cooperating teacher for several weeks and months. How did she/he exhibit the
qualities of caring, respect, and integrity?

 Teacher are asking the student that they are understand the lesson or they doesn’t
understand the lesson. So that the teacher will repeat the explanation to the student
who did not follow lesson.
As a teaching intern, how did you exhibit the qualities of caring, respect, and integrity? cite
specific situation or instances.
 Students acquire these values and behaviors from adult rule models and peers, and in
particular , through an understanding the principles of academic integrity. When
students learn integrity in classroom settings, it helps them apply similar principles to
the other aspects of their lives.

PERFORMANCE TASK 2
A. Cite specific instances on how you establish professional links with your colleagues.
 One of the biggest obstacles to connecting with other teachers is making sure that
you’re all on the same page. Everyone should know what’s expected of them and be
made a valued part of the team. From there, it’s much easier to build relationships
and figure out the next steps to take to improve the quality or education kids receive.

B. Interview your CT, as him/her how he/she establishes professional links with
colleagues

 Respectful

 Helpful relationships

 Be Trustworthy

PERFORMANCE TASK 3
A. Read the Philippine Professional Standards for Beginning Teachers (PPST). Explain how
you will realize the professional development goals using these standards.

I realized this set of standards provides clear information of what teachers

should know, be able to do, and value to achieve competent, improved student
learning outcomes, and eventually quality education. It serves as a basis of
professional accountability that can help teachers reflect on and assess their
practices as they aspire for personal growth and professional development. PPST
helps to have quality and effective teachers here in the Philippines when it comes
to teaching. It allows them to recognize the importance of having a critical
understanding of the application of theories and principles of teaching and learning.
It encourages them to display proficiency in teaching and exhibit the needed skills
in the use of communication strategies, teaching strategies, and technologies to
promote high-quality learning outcomes. It inspires them to create a conducive
learning environment that promotes learner responsibility and achievement and
increases learner engagement. Teachers become responsive to learner diversity.
They come to understand that learners are different from each other. They differ in
their interests, learning styles, etc. They need to incorporate teaching practices that
are differentiated to be able to meet the needs of the learners, especially disabled
learners. It allows teachers to apply a variety of assessment tools and strategies in
monitoring, evaluating, documenting, and reporting learner's needs, progress, and
achievement.
The Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST)  aims to produce better
teachers in our country by improving their qualifications skills and by increasing
their levels of knowledge, practice, and professional engagement.

My Learning Artifacts
Make a photo collage of the demonstration lesson you have conducted in your
cooperating school. Make a reflective journal too.
 After my demonstration, I realized that teaching is not easy profession. One must
sacrifice the comfort to fulfill the needs of the learners. However, I also realized that I
want to teach and my heart is on the teaching profession.

“Executing My Demonstrating Learning Plan”

In my executing demonstrating learning plan, I was prepare what kind of teaching
demo I’ll be giving to my students. Using my own material or given material to cover. We
use a Technology because, I should overwhelm the topic in my teaching and the
contribution that technology makes to student learning should be obvious and significant
so that we serves clear and relevant. Handouts are often a better alternative to
technology, since we provide everyone with a concrete takeaway by which to remember
my student with my demonstration. But before my demo teaching we must prove not
only can create and follow a lesson plan, but also we can engage and interact with
students to enhance their learning. A successful teaching demonstration ultimately comes
down to careful planning and practice. If you showcase your best teaching during demo,
you’ll go a long way toward convincing the committee that you can handle the challenges
of teaching day-to-day.

“Articulating My Personal Philosophy of Teaching”

A teacher should believe in the intended processes and activities to produce

desirable changes in the behavior of students. We must believe in the capacity to effect
these changes, promote and facilitate these changes through the mastery of the subject
matter and the use of appropriate methods and techniques of teaching.
A teacher also functions as manipulator of teaching learning situation. As a
manipulator, she believes in her ability to create a series operations directed to change
specific behavior. These are just the parts of a teacher’s of educational philosophy.
As a student teacher we must believe in something that will eventually help our
setting the goal of our life. This will focus on the values and objectives of the new social
order, we will help our teacher in analyzing and organizing the objectives that will serve
as a guide to prevent a teacher from getting lost their maze of her many faceted chores.
