MODULE 2 – CWTS 10023

ASSIGNMENTS

1. What is mental health? Why does it matter to advocate and address mental
health issues?

Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-

being, and it is a vital component of overall health. It all comes down to how it
influences a person's thinking, emotions, and behavior, which can have an impact
on daily activities, relationships, and physical health. Depression, anxiety, bipolar
disorder, schizophrenia, and other mental illnesses can influence a person's ability
to relate to people and operate on a daily basis.

Mental health, just like physical health, is crucial throughout all stages of
life, from childhood through adolescent to maturity. Taking care of one's mental
health might help them maintain their ability to enjoy life. To do so, you must strike
a balance between your daily activities, duties, and efforts to build psychological
resilience. As a result, raising awareness or advocating and addressing mental
health issues is important because raising mental health awareness makes it
easier to identify and treat those who are suffering from mental illness. It is evident
that mental health is important regardless of one's age or background. However,
the stigma attached to it prevents many from seeking treatment or even talking
about their problems. That is why it is important to advocate for mental health, it
provides support by assisting others in being heard and defending their rights.
Mental health Advocates share their personal stories to show that we are not
alone. Advocates work to address misunderstandings and stereotypes regarding
mental illnesses, raise awareness, and assist the general public recognize that
people with mental illnesses are just people.

Hence, having knowledge and raising awareness about mental health

issues is significant because it contributes significantly to the well-being of many
people as well as society.

2. What are the strategies that you have to prioritize in keeping your mental
health well and stable?

As I grew older becoming an adult, I realized the weight and amount of my

responsibilities, and that realization is gradually harming my mental health.
However, I will not allow my mental health to be completely affected, as this could
have a negative impact on my daily activities. That is why I have some list of
strategies that I prioritize in order to keep my mental health well and stable. Since
I'm not comfortable enough to express my thoughts and problems and I’m still
working on that, I've found alternative good ways to maintain my mental health
such as taking a break and doing what I want, I give myself some ‘me time’ which
helps me a lot and clears my mind, taking care of and playing with my pet dogs
brings me joy and helps me to relax and unwind. Doing something I'm good at,
pleasant things I enjoy doing, like painting, which also helps me to relax and I enjoy
doing this activity because it enhances my self-esteem in some way, and lastly
taking care of myself first such as eating good foods and getting plenty of sleep.
