What is National Service Training
• Program?
The “National Service Training Program (NSTP)” is a youth-
focused program that aims to improve civic awareness and
defense preparation by instilling service and patriotism principles
while undertaking training in one of three (3) program
components.
• The goal of this program is to raise awareness about the
importance of youths in nation-building, as well as to develop their
physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being.
Republic Act No. 9163
• The R.A. 9163 is an act establishing the National Service Training
Program (NSTP) for tertiary level students, amending for the purpose
Republic Act No. 7077 and Presidential Decree No. 1706, and for
other purposes. The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC)
Program was reformed by the National Service Training Program
(NSTP) Act of 2001 (R.A. 9163).
• All citizens will be responsible for defending the state's security; as a
result, the government may force each citizen to do personal, military,
or civil duty.
Republic Act No. 7077
• An act providing for the development,
administration, organization, training, maintenance
and utilization of the citizen armed forces of the
armed forces of the Philippines and for other
purposes.
Presidential Decree No. 1706
• Presidential Decree No. 1706, otherwise known as the
"National Service Law", was signed into law on 8 August
1980. It made national service obligatory for all Filipino
citizens and specified three categories of national service:
civic welfare service, law enforcement service and military
service.
