I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:
• understand the importance of learning visual literacy;
• interpret and decode the message presented in any visual material;
• compare and contrast the presentation of the same topic in different viewing genres.

inspired and influenced by nature; relationship of visual, sensory, and verbal
signals in both literary and expository texts; strategies in listening to long
descriptive and narrative texts; value of literal and figurative language; and

IV.PROCEDURES
A. Introduction The learners will be led to study the sample printed material about COVID-19 statistics in
(1/2 day) their SLM on page 18. They will answer the following questions in their answer sheet:
1. Can you specify the different details presented by the poster ?
2. How are the details presented?
3. What platform is used in presenting the information?
Goal Orientation
• The learners will have the hints and background of what are to be discussed
and to be learned.
• In this part, the content of the lesson will be presented.
B. Development Learning Task 1:
(1 day) In their answer sheet, the learners will match the viewing genres in Column A with their
corresponding descriptions in Column B. (refer to SLM page 19)

Learning Task 2:
The learners will copy and complete the table by giving examples of viewing materials
they have watched under the identified genres. (refer to SLM page 19).

CONCEPT DISCUSSION (VIEWING GENRES)

Learning Task 3:
The learners will identify the BEST GENRE of viewing materials to watch given the
following situations (refer to SLM page 21)

C. Engagement Learning Task 4:


(2 days) The learners will find two available viewing materials for each topic given. Identify the
genre of each viewing material then describe the two viewing materials by comparing
and contrasting them in terms of their features. (refer to SLM page 22)
Learning Task 5:
The learners will find two viewing materials that deal with the same subject matter, they
may recall and use viewing materials that they have watched before. They will illustrate
the similarities and differences between the two viewing materials using the VENN
DIAGRAM (refer to SLM page 23).
Learning Task 6:
The learners will think two available viewing materials that they have watched before,
they may also use the available online materials. They will analyze them in terms of their
point of view, language, length and mood. Use the given table in SLM on page 23.
Learning Task 7:
The learners will think of a topic relevant in the country or in their community. They will
describe how will they present their chosen topic in two different viewing genres
considering the following:
a.point of view
b. language
c. length, and
d. mood
D. Assimilation Learning Task 6:
(1/2 day) The learners will write their reflection on the importance of identifying and analyzing
different viewing genres. Explain how viewing genres can help in gathering information
about a particular topic or issue. (refer to SLM page 24)

V.REFLECTION The learners will write their personal insights about the lesson using the prompts below.
