Modern Education Society's College of Engineering, Pune: Presentation On

Variable geometry turbochargers allow the aspect ratio of the turbo to be altered based on changing engine conditions, producing variations in the flow of inlet air mass. They consist of a turbine, compressor, common axle, and other sub assemblies that work together - exhaust gases from the engine spin the turbine and axle, which drives the compressor to force more dense air into the engine, resulting in more air and fuel entering each cylinder.

Presentation on:
Variable geometry turbocharger
Under guidance of:
prof. A.r. patil
Prof. Poonam magdum
Introduction:
• Variable geometry turbochargers also known as Variable nozzle turbines are a
family of Turbochargers.

• Designed to allow the effective aspect ratio(A:R) of the turbo to be altered as

conditions changes.

• It produces variations in the flow Of inlet air mass by geometry change of inlet
conditions of turbine blades according to requirement.
Turbocharger
A turbocharger consist of four part

a) Turbine
b) Compressor
c) Common axle
d)Sub assemblies
e) Air cooler
WORKING
•The turbine inlet receives exhaust gases from the engine exhaust manifold causing the turbine wheel to rotate
•This rotation drives the compressor, compressing ambient air After it delivers it to the air intake manifold of
the engine at higher pressure,
•resulting in a greater amount of the air and fuel entering the cylinder
