Oswald Peraza NYY 3B
Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Goes deep in win
4h agoPeraza went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and walk in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Angels.
The utilityman crushed a line-drive homer to center field off Hector Neris in the seventh inning, providing a key insurance run that helped secure the win. It's been tough sledding for the 24-year-old, who's slashing just .203/.283/.322 with eight extra-base hits over 79 at-bats this season. The injury to third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera on May 12 opened up more playing time for Peraza, but he hasn't capitalized on the opportunity. Tuesday's home run was a positive sign, but the Yankees will likely continue exploring both internal and external options to maximize production at the hot corner.
-
Devin Williams NYY RP
Yankees' Devin Williams: Shaky while collecting fifth save
5h agoWilliams picked up the save Tuesday in a 3-2 win over the Angels. He allowed two runs on three hits and no walks while recording zero strikeouts over one inning.
The right-hander was removed from the closer role due to early-season struggles but was called on to pitch the ninth inning, with Luke Weaver likely unavailable after working the previous two days. Williams saw his streak of eight consecutive scoreless appearances snapped by a Yoan Moncada solo homer and Jo Adell RBI, but he narrowly escaped with the save. The former Brewer didn't issue a walk against the Angels but has posted a career-worst 5.40 BB/9 through his first 23 appearances and 20 innings as a Yankee, contributing to a disappointing 6.75 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. While Williams filled in as closer, it's unlikely he reclaims the full-time role, with Weaver sporting a 0.73 ERA.

Jackson Kowar SEA RP
Mariners' Jackson Kowar: Closing in on return
5h agoKowar (elbow) could be nearing his activation from the 60-day injured list, MLB.com reports.
Kowar has produced solid results in the minor leagues amidst his recovery from 2024 Tommy John surgery, posting a 2.57 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 4:3 K:BB over seven innings (eight appearances) on his rehab assignment. The 28-year-old right-hander should be ready to make both his Mariners and season debut by early June, and he'll likely operate as a multi-inning reliever in Seattle's bullpen once he's fully up to speed.
-
Lourdes Gurriel ARI LF
Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Adds steal in loss
5h agoGurriel went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Pirates.
Gurriel has logged two steals over his last four games, and he has four multi-hit efforts across his last five contests. The outfielder's surge at the plate has him hitting .245 on the year while adding a .719 OPS, eight home runs, 31 RBI, 19 runs scored, three steals and 12 doubles over 51 games. Gurriel's average is still by far a career low, so he should continue to rebound closer to his normal level of production.
-
Corbin Carroll ARI RF
Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Launches early homer in loss
5h agoCarroll went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Pirates.
Carroll opened the scoring with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first inning, taking Mike Burrows' third pitch of the game out to right field. Prior to Tuesday, Carroll had gone 0-for-14 over his previous four contests. The outfielder's slump has him down to a .259/.329/.561 slash line on the year, but he's added 16 homers, 35 RBI, 42 runs scored and nine stolen bases over 55 games. Carroll is too talented to stay quiet for long, so expect him to get back on track sooner rather than later.
-
Corbin Burnes ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Corbin Burnes: Comes up empty after strong start
5h agoBurnes allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Pirates on Tuesday.
Burnes was excellent aside from allowing a two-run home run to Henry Davis in the sixth inning. The Diamondbacks' bullpen then butchered the outing for Burnes, allowing a seven-run eighth inning to cost the right-hander a win. He's rattled off five straight quality starts and has gone seven innings three times in that span. He's at a 2.72 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 57:25 K:BB over 59.2 innings across 10 starts this season, as his slightly elevated walk rate (3.8 BB/9) hasn't come back to bite him too often yet. Burnes' next outing is projected to be at Atlanta next week.
-
Henry Davis PIT C
Pirates' Henry Davis: Clubs homer Tuesday
5h agoDavis went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Diamondbacks.
Davis is 4-for-9 with three RBI over his last four contests. The 25-year-old catcher has seen limited playing time this season, batting .204 with a .638 OPS, two homers, six RBI and six runs scored across 56 plate appearances. He hadn't logged an extra-base hit since his first homer of the year, which was April 16 versus the Nationals.
-
Cal Raleigh SEA C
Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Goes deep twice Tuesday
6h agoRaleigh went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Nationals.
Raleigh went back-to-back with Julio Rodriguez in the first inning and added a second solo shot in the fifth. This was Raleigh's third multi-homer effort of the season. He's been locked in with both power and steady hitting lately, hitting seven homers while going 16-for-53 (.302) over his last 14 games. The catcher is up to a .258/.372/.603 slash line, 19 long balls, 37 RBI, 35 runs scored and five stolen bases over 53 contests as he continues to trend toward a career year.
-
Ben Rortvedt TB C
Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Likely to lose roster spot
9h agoThe Rays are expected to designate Rortvedt for assignment Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Rortvedt is slashing just .100/.194/.117 through 67 plate appearances on the season and currently sits as the third catcher on Tampa Bay's roster following the acquisition of Matt Thaiss from Chicago on Tuesday. Rortvedt's place on the depth chart makes him the obvious choice to lose his spot once Thaiss is activated, and the former's poor performance could cause him to pass through waivers unclaimed.
-
Miguel Amaya CHC C
Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Out several weeks
14h agoManager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Amaya (oblique) will likely be out for another 4-to-6 weeks, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Amaya landed on the injured list Sunday with a strained left oblique, and the results of his MRI confirmed that he will need to spend an extended period of time on the IL. Counsell said the team hopes to have the 26-year-old back before the All-Star break. Until then, Carson Kelly (illness) will likely see the bulk of starts behind the dish with Reese McGuire filling in occasionally.
-
Logan O'Hoppe LAA C
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Sitting down Tuesday
14h agoO'Hoppe (head) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
O'Hoppe had to make an early exit from Monday's contest after getting hit in the head by a backswing in the eighth inning. Manager Ron Washington said after the game the decision to pull the 25-year-old backstop was precautionary, but O'Hoppe will now be forced to miss Tuesday's game while Travis d'Arnaud catches and bats fifth.
-
Carson Kelly CHC C
Cubs' Carson Kelly: Remains out of lineup
14h agoKelly (illness) was omitted from the Cubs' lineup against the Rockies on Tuesday.
Kelly did not play Sunday and Monday after being scratched from Sunday's lineup due to an illness. This will be the third straight game Kelly is absent due to the illness, but he may be available off the bench, as Miguel Amaya (oblique) is on the 10-day injured list. Reese McGuire has the start behind the dish and is batting ninth.
-
Luis Arraez SD 1B
Padres' Luis Arraez: Breaks slump with three-hit game
6h agoArraez went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Marlins.
Arraez supplied the game-tying and go-ahead hits, knocking in a run with a single in each of the fourth and fifth innings. This ended his 0-for-14 drought at the plate, which was enough to earn him a partial rest day Monday before he appeared off the bench. Prior to that slump, he had hit safely in 11 of 12 games, batting .358 (19-for-53) in that span. Overall, the contact-hitting infielder is at a .289/.322/.416 slash line with three home runs, nine doubles, three triples, 18 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases across 47 contests.
-
Bryce Harper PHI 1B
Phillies' Bryce Harper: X-rays negative on elbow
12h agoHarper was diagnosed with a bruised right elbow following his exit from Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.
Harper left in the first inning of Tuesday's game after being hit in the right elbow on a pitch from Spencer Strider. The good news for Harper is that X-rays came back negative, but it's unclear if he'll be available for the final two games of the series against Atlanta. Alec Bohm could see some starts at first base if Harper were to be sidelined due to his elbow injury.
-
Bryce Harper PHI 1B
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Exits game after HBP
13h agoHarper left in the first inning of Tuesday's game against Atlanta due to an elbow injury, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports.
Harper was drilled in the right elbow on a pitch from Spencer Strider. Harper was pulled from the game after being attended to by a trainer, with Edmundo Sosa coming in to pinch run. An update on Harper's injury should be provided during or shortly after Tuesday's contest.
-
Casey Schmitt SF 1B
Giants' Casey Schmitt: Starting against righty
16h agoSchmitt is starting at first base and batting seventh Tuesday against righty Jack Flaherty and the Tigers.
Schmitt typically starts only against lefties, but he's getting his second start of the season against a righty with LaMonte Wade struggling mightily at the plate. Schmitt is 3-for-7 with three walks in three games since getting activated from the injured list May 19.
-
LaMonte Wade SF 1B
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting Tuesday
16h agoWade is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Tigers.
Wade typically sits against lefties, but he's out of the mix in this one with righty Jack Flaherty pitching for Detroit. Wade is hitting .211 with a .297 OBP and zero home runs in 20 games this month. Casey Schmitt is starting at first base and batting seventh.
-
Carlos Santana CLE 1B
Guardians' Carlos Santana: Good to go Tuesday
16h agoSantana (leg) is starting at first base and batting fifth Tuesday versus the Dodgers.
The veteran first baseman sat out the past two games due to left leg tightness but will rejoin the starting nine Tuesday against Los Angeles righty Dustin May. Santana is in the midst of a modest six-game hit streak, and he's gone 8-for-21 with five walks, two doubles, two homers, six RBI and six runs during that span.
-
Edmundo Sosa PHI 2B
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Returns to action Tuesday
5h agoSosa (wrist) went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Atlanta.
Sosa didn't appear in either of Philadelphia's last two games due to a left wrist issue, but he returned to action as a substitute for the injured Bryce Harper (elbow) in the first inning and appears to be fully healthy. The Phillies moved Alec Bohm to first base Tuesday, which could allow Sosa to see more playing time at the hot corner if Harper needs to miss some time. Over 68 at-bats (26 games) this season, Sosa is batting .338 with one home run, five doubles, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored.
-
Dylan Moore SEA 2B
Mariners' Dylan Moore: Three-hit effort in Tuesday's win
6h agoMoore went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Monday's 9-1 win over the Nationals.
Moore went 0-for-10 over his previous three games before breaking the short slump in a big way Tuesday. The utility player has posted three multi-hit efforts over 18 games in May. For the season, he's hitting .272 with an .827 OPS, eight home runs, eight stolen bases, 16 RBI, 21 runs scored and four doubles over 41 contests. He is seeing a majority of his playing time at second base but can fill in all around the diamond.
-
Ketel Marte ARI 2B
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Fighting off illness
13h agoMarte isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus Pittsburgh due to an illness, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Marte is slashing .263/.366/.600 with eight homers, 12 RBI and 17 runs scored since the start of May, but he'll have to miss Tuesday's contest while he battles the flu. Jordan Lawlar will get the nod at the keystone instead and could continue to start at second if Marte has to miss any additional games.
-
Otto Lopez MIA 2B
Marlins' Otto Lopez: Not in Tuesday's lineup
13h agoLopez is not in the Marlins' starting lineup against the Padres on Tuesday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Lopez will begin Tuesday's game in the dugout while Ronny Simon starts at second base and bats seventh. Lopez has gone 5-for-26 with two steals, one home run and four RBI in seven games since being activated from the 10-day injured list May 18.
-
Ketel Marte ARI 2B
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Getting rest Tuesday
14h agoMarte is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
Marte made his 13th consecutive start Monday, and he went 2-for-4 with a RBI. While he will begin Tuesday's game on the bench, the 31-year-old has appeared in all but one game since returning from the injured list May 2. Jordan Lawlar will start at second base and is batting ninth Tuesday.
-
Brendan Donovan STL 2B
Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Scratched from Tuesday's lineup
15h agoDonovan was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Baltimore due to hip tightness, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Donovan was penciled in at second base Tuesday, per usual, but the hip issue will instead end a run of 29 straight starts. The 28-year-old, who has a .328/.390/.463 slash line through 52 games this year, is expected to rejoin the starting nine for Wednesday's series finale versus the Orioles. Jordan Walker is replacing Donovan in the lineup with Nolan Gorman shifting to second base.
-
Oswald Peraza NYY 3B
-
Josh Jung TEX 3B
Rangers' Josh Jung: Stays hot with RBI, stolen base
8h agoJung went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Toronto.
Although Jung's seven-game hitting streak came to an end Monday, he got back into the RBI column for the first time in his last eight outings Tuesday. The 27-year-old third baseman has been a key cog in Texas' lineup this season, and he's batting a strong .306 (22-for-72) with five home runs, two doubles, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored over his last 20 games. Jung's stolen base was his fourth of the year, so he's providing a decent combination of pop and speed at the hot corner.
-
Max Muncy LAD 3B
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Goes deep, swipes bag
10h agoMuncy went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's win against Cleveland.
Muncy drew a leadoff walk, swiped second base and scored a run in the second inning. His big moment of the night came in the ninth inning when he belted a three-run insurance shot. Muncy was stuck in a 5-for-26 (.192) skid since his last home run May 15. The veteran slugger is now slashing .212/.337/.345 with 24 RBI and four home runs this season.
-
Royce Lewis MIN 3B
Twins' Royce Lewis: Sitting amid slump
14h agoLewis is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rays, Brian Murphy of MLB.com reports.
The 25-year-old started the previous 10 games but will take a seat Tuesday while in the midst of an 0-for-18 slump. Jonah Bride will step in at the hot corner and bat seventh against Tampa Bay righty Taj Bradley while Lewis gets a day to reset.
-
Nolan Arenado STL 3B
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Back in action
16h agoArenado (ribs) is starting at third base and batting sixth Tuesday against the Orioles.
As expected, Arenado is back in action after sitting out Monday to rest after he fell into the crowd to make a catch Sunday. Arenado has never hit lower than .253 over a full MLB season, but his average sits at .234 entering play Tuesday. The 34-year-old third baseman has provided five home runs, 23 runs, 25 RBI and one steal in 49 games.
-
Josh Rojas CHW 3B
White Sox's Josh Rojas: Struggling to get going
21h agoRojas went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Monday against the Mets.
Rojas has maintained a near everyday role for the White Sox at a combination of second and third base since being activated from the injured list May 4. He managed his second stolen base of the season Monday, though he still has only one hit across his last 18 at-bats -- spanning eight games. Rojas has struggled to find a rhythm at the plate overall by hitting just .140 with no extra-base hits across 57 plate appearances, and his strikeout rate has notably surged to 33.3 percent.
-
Jeremy Pena HOU SS
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Clubs seventh homer
6h agoPena went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's 11-1 victory over the Athletics.
Pena took advantage of the short porch in left field at Daikin Park, golfing a two-run homer off JP Sears in the second inning. The shortstop had been slumping at the plate entering Tuesday's game, slashing .206/.357/.265 with just one extra-base hit in his previous 10 contests. Still, Pena has been terrific this season, slashing .298/.362/.449 with 16 extra-base hits across 205 at-bats in 54 games.
-
Xander Bogaerts SD SS
Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Posts three-hit effort
6h agoBogaerts went 3-for-4 with a walk, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Marlins.
This was Bogaerts' first multi-hit effort since May 17 versus the Mariners. The shortstop has started to get in a groove, going 5-for-12 over his last three contests. He's back up to a .243/.332/.343 slash line with three home runs, 10 stolen bases, 21 RBI, 22 runs scored and nine doubles through 53 contests. While he's not hitting as well as usual, the 32-year-old remains in a starting role.
-
Willy Adames SF SS
Giants' Willy Adames: Multi-hit effort in defeat
6h agoAdames went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Tigers.
Adames singled twice in the loss, delivering his first multi-hit performance since May 16. The 29-year-old shortstop had gone 0-for-11 over his previous three games, and he has been struggling of late. Adames is now slashing .210/.288/.336 with 30 runs scored, 25 RBI, 16 extra-base hits -- including five homers -- two stolen bases and a 26.3 percent strikeout rate across 240 plate appearances this season.
-
Corey Seager TEX SS
Rangers' Corey Seager: To return Wednesday
15h agoSeager (hamstring) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday against the Blue Jays, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
He faced live pitching over the weekend and was expected to be activated sometime during this series against Toronto. It was the second hamstring-related IL stint for Seager this season.
-
Carlos Correa MIN SS
Twins' Carlos Correa: Provides team's only offense Monday
1d agoCorrea went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Rays on Monday.
Correa brought Minnesota to within a run with his two-run blast in the seventh inning, but that was the only time the Twins put any runs on the board. The long ball was Correa's second across four contests since returning from a concussion May 23. He's gone deep just four times through 45 games this season, though, after slugging 14 homers over 86 regular-season contests last year.
-
Zachary Neto LAA SS
Angels' Zach Neto: Provides lone run in loss
1d agoNeto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Yankees.
Neto lifted a moonshot in the first inning, taking Ryan Yarbrough deep on a 440-foot homer to center field. That was not a sign of coming attractions, as the Angels' offense struggled for the remainder of the game. Neto has homers five times and added 12 RBI over his last 14 contests, going 17-for-56 (.304) in that span. The shortstop is batting .283 with an .875 OPS, nine homers, 20 RBI, 29 runs scored, eight stolen bases and 10 doubles over 35 games this season.
-
Lourdes Gurriel ARI LF
-
Alexander Canario PIT LF
Pirates' Alexander Canario: Swipes bag Tuesday
5h agoCanario went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Diamondbacks.
Canario has three straight multi-hit efforts and has hit safely in his last five games. In that longer span, he's gone 9-for-22 (.409), though he also has a 1:9 BB:K during that stretch. The outfielder is at a .250/.304/.385 slash line with two steals, three home runs, seven RBI and 12 runs scored over 112 plate appearances this season. He has played regularly since May 9, typically occupying a spot in the middle of the lineup while seeing time at all three outfield positions.
-
Bryan Reynolds PIT RF
Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Big performance in comeback win
5h agoReynolds went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Diamondbacks.
Reynolds had a fantastic game, which is something that hasn't been said often about him this season. He delivered the go-ahead hit -- a three-run homer in the eighth inning -- to complete the comeback. The outfielder has gone 13-for-36 (.361) over his last 10 games, adding four extra-base hits and 10 RBI in that span. For the season, he's at a .223/.292/.360 slash line with seven long balls, 30 RBI, 21 runs scored, eight doubles and three stolen bases through 53 contests.
-
Jesus Sanchez MIA RF
Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Three more hits in loss
6h agoSanchez went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Padres.
Sanchez has posted back-to-back multi-hit games and is 10-for-31 (.323) over his last eight contests. He has four extra-base hits and six RBI in that span. The outfielder is up to a .246/.347/.357 slash line with three home runs, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored and five stolen bases across 35 games this season. He continues to hold down a starting role in right field while the Marlins deal with some injuries in the outfield.
-
Jackson Merrill SD CF
Padres' Jackson Merrill: Lifts fifth homer
6h agoMerrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Marlins.
Merrill provided an insurance run with his eighth-inning blast, closing the scoring on the Padres' comeback win. He's gone 9-for-39 (.231) with two extra-base hits and a 4:10 BB:K over his last 10 contests. The talented outfielder is still hitting .333 with a .907 OPS this season, and he has five home runs, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored, one stolen base, five doubles and one triple over 28 contests. He has hit safely in five of the last six games, so he may be turning things around despite the recent slump.
-
Corbin Burnes ARI SP
-
Carlos Rodon NYY SP
Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Punches out 10 in win
5h agoRodon (7-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing five hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings against the Angels. He struck out 10.
Rodon was masterful Tuesday, matching his season highs in innings and strikeouts. After a good but not great 2024 that culminated in a 3.96 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 175 innings, the 32-year-old is off to a fantastic start in 2025. Through 12 starts this year, the left-hander owns a stellar 2.60 ERA and 0.94 WHIP across 72.2 innings. With Rodon and Max Fried, the Yankees boast an elite duo at the top of their rotation.
-
Tyler Anderson LAA SP
Angels' Tyler Anderson: Goes six strong
5h agoAnderson (2-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk over six innings against the Yankees. He struck out three.
The only earned run the crafty lefty allowed Tuesday came on a Ben Rice homer in the fourth inning. Otherwise, Anderson was sharp, holding the Yankees' sluggers in check, though he didn't get the run support needed to secure his third win of the season. The 35-year-old had struggled in his previous two starts, giving up nine runs over 9.2 innings, but he's still putting together a solid season with a 3.39 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.
-
Michael Burrows PIT SP
Pirates' Mike Burrows: Escapes with no-decision
5h agoBurrows allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Burrows' second major-league start was a little worse than his first. He gave up a solo home run to Corbin Carroll in the first inning and then ran into trouble in the fourth. Burrows would have taken a second loss were it not for the Pirates' offense rallying ahead in a massive eighth inning. Burrows has given up nine runs (eight earned) with a 5:4 K:BB across 8.1 innings over his first two starts. Should he stay in the rotation, he is tentatively projected to make his next appearance at home versus the Astros.
-
Max Meyer MIA SP
Marlins' Max Meyer: Squanders early lead
6h agoMeyer allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout over 3.1 innings in a no-decision Tuesday versus the Padres.
The Marlins opened the game with a six-run first inning. That's usually enough of a lead to make for smooth sailing, but Meyer proceeded to give it all back, getting scored on in four straight innings before exiting at 74 pitches (44 strikes) in a poor start. He has allowed at least four runs in five of his last six outings, erasing much of his positive start to the season. The right-hander is now at a 4.53 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 63:19 K:BB over 59.2 innings through 11 starts. His next start is projected to be at home versus the hapless Rockies, which gives him a good opportunity to bounce back.

Stephen Kolek SD SP
Padres' Stephen Kolek: Overcomes rotten first inning
6h agoKolek (3-1) allowed six runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Marlins.
Kolek was terrible in the first inning, which is when he allowed all six runs. He allowed just three more baserunners on a hit, a walk and an error over the last 4.1 innings of his start, and the Padres' comeback effort rewarded him with a win. He was able to avoid giving up a home run for the fourth time in five starts, but he's been tagged for 15 runs (14 earned) over his last three outings. Kolek is now at a 4.11 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 24:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings this season. He is tentatively projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco.

-
Eduard Bazardo SEA RP
Mariners' Eduard Bazardo: Finishes off blowout victory
5h agoBazardo threw a scoreless ninth inning in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Nationals. He struck out one.
Bazardo is searching for some consistency, as he's given up at least one run in three of his seven appearances this month. His longest scoreless stretch of the season is just five outings, which he accomplished from April 6 through April 15, but he's still kept his ratios in check with a 4.21 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 21:11 K:BB over 25.2 innings. However, Bazardo owns zero holds or saves in 2025, and he'll likely remain primarily in a middle-relief role going forward.

David Bednar PIT RP
Pirates' David Bednar: Perfect inning for save
5h agoBednar struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Diamondbacks.
Bednar has earned three saves over his last four appearances. He had allowed a baserunner in each of his last three outings before Tuesday's clean inning. The right-hander is still on shaky ground, as he's been scored on in four of his 11 appearances in May, allowing five runs over 9.2 innings with a 15:2 K:BB. Overall, he has a 4.86 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB through 16.2 innings in the majors this season, and he's added six saves and three holds.
-
Jeremiah Estrada SD RP
Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Grabs four-out save
6h agoEstrada allowed a hit and struck out two over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Marlins.
The Padres' bullpen was a little thin, as all of Robert Suarez, Jason Adam and Adrian Morejon had pitched Sunday and Monday. Estrada took care of business in a rare chance to close out a game, earning his first save of the season to go with 10 holds and two blown saves. He's had a bit of a bumpy stretch in May, allowing five runs (three earned) over 6.2 innings across his last eight appearances. Overall, he has a 2.59 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings this season, making him a trusted part of the setup crew.

Tyler Kinley COL RP
Rockies' Tyler Kinley: Struggles continue in second loss
7h agoKinley (0-2) took the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks in 1.1 innings during Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Cubs. He struck out one.
Kinley's struggles on the mound continue, as he now owns an abysmal 10.03 ERA, 2.14 WHIP and 9:11 K:BB over his last 11.2 innings. The 34-year-old right-hander has a lone hold and just one save in two opportunities on the campaign, so he remains well behind Zach Agnos and Seth Halvorsen in Colorado's bullpen hierarchy. The recently returned Victor Vodnik also looms as an option in high-leverage situations.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: First to 20 home runs
10h agoOhtani went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, two walks and two runs scored in Tuesday's victory against the Guardians.
Ohtani became the first player to reach the 20-homer mark this season with his two-run blast in the fourth inning. He's gone deep in three straight games and has 14 home runs over his last 26 contests. The superstar slugger now boasts a terrific .296/.396/.657 slash line with 33 extra-base hits and 59 runs scored.

Andrew McCutchen PIT DH
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Getting rest Tuesday
14h agoMcCutchen isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
After starting each of Pittsburgh's last five contests and going 7-for-17 with six walks and three runs scored, McCutchen will get a chance to rest his legs Tuesday. His absence will move Oneil Cruz into the DH spot while Tommy Pham, Alexander Canario and Bryan Reynolds start in the outfield.
-
Jorge Polanco SEA DH
Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Not starting Tuesday
15h agoPolanco is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Nationals on Tuesday.
Polanco has been dealing with a sore side for most of the season, which has made it uncomfortable batting as a right-hander. With southpaw Mitchell Parker taking the mound for the Nationals, Polanco will begin Tuesday's game on the bench while Mitch Garver serves as the designated hitter and bats fifth. Polanco has slashed .155/.234/.241 with one home run and five RBI in 64 plate appearances since the beginning of May.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Leads off game with homer again
1d agoOhtani went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and three total runs in Monday's 7-2 win against the Guardians.
Ohtani belted a leadoff homer for the second straight contest, this time swatting a 378-foot shot on Gavin Williams' first pitch of the game. The two-way star leads the majors in both total home runs (19) and leadoff long balls (five) this season. With 11 thefts to his name as well, Ohtani is currently the only hitter in the majors with at least 15 homers and at least 10 steals.
-
Wilmer Flores SF DH
Giants' Wilmer Flores: Multi-hit game in defeat
1d agoFlores was 2-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Tigers.
Flores picked up multiple hits in a game for the first time since a stretch of seven hits in three contests came to an end nine games ago. He drove in the team's only run in the sixth inning Monday. While he hasn't strung multiple hits together in a game, the 33-year-old has at least one hit in six of his last seven ballgames.
-
Yandy Diaz TB DH
Rays' Yandy Diaz: Idle Monday
2d agoDiaz isn't part of the Rays' starting lineup for Monday's game against the Twins, Brian Murphy of MLB.com reports.
Diaz will get the night off Monday after making nine consecutive starts at DH for Tampa Bay. In his stead, Brandon Lowe will DH and Curtis Mead will play second base.
