Kerry Carpenter DET RF
Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Idle against lefty
2m agoCarpenter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
After starting each of the last five games, the left-handed-hitting Carpenter will hit the bench while the Royals send a tough lefty (Kris Bubic) to the hill. Justyn-Henry Malloy will take Carpenter's spot in the lineup, manning right field while batting leadoff.
-
Zach McKinstry DET RF
Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Getting start at shortstop
5m agoMcKinstry will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Royals.
Though he'll draw a start against southpaw Kris Bubic in the series finale, the left-handed-hitting McKinstry sat against a righty (MIchael Wacha) on Saturday and could be moving into more of a part-time role while the Tigers are close to full health in both the infield and outfield. McKinstry still owns a career-best .768 OPS on the season, but he finished May with an unremarkable .200/.289/.338 slash line to go with two home runs and one stolen base in 24 games.
-
Carson Kelly CHC C
Cubs' Carson Kelly: Out of lineup Sunday
6m agoKelly is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
It's likely just a rest day for Kelly, who went 0-for-10 with a walk while starting the previous three games. Reese McGuire will step in behind the plate to catch for veteran righty Jameson Taillon on Sunday.
-
Dillon Dingler DET C
Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Taking seat Sunday
8m agoDingler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Dingler will receive Sunday off after going 3-for-5 with two walks, a home run and three RBI in the first two games of the series. Jake Rogers will take over behind the plate and bat eighth in the series finale at Kansas City.
-
Wenceel Perez DET CF
Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Not in Sunday's lineup
15m agoPerez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Perez started four straight games after being reinstated from the injured list Tuesday and will receive Sunday off after going 4-for-14 with a double, a solo homer and six strikeouts. Javier Baez is starting in center field for the series finale in Kansas City.
-
Javier Sanoja MIA 2B
Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Starting in center field Sunday
19m agoSanoja will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Giants.
Sanoja will draw his fifth straight start and his second in a row in center field, but he's still likely to notice a downturn in playing time in the near future following Xavier Edwards' return from the injured list Saturday. With Edwards and Otto Lopez entrenched as Miami's everyday starters in the middle infield, Sanoja could end up seeing most of his starts in the outfield in the short side of a platoon with either Jesus Sanchez or Kyle Stowers.

Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Taking seat Sunday

Dingler will receive Sunday off after going 3-for-5 with two walks, a home run and three RBI in the first two games of the series. Jake Rogers will take over behind the plate and bat eighth in the series finale at Kansas City.

Shea Langeliers ATH C
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Receiving breather Sunday
1h agoLangeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Langeliers started the previous five games and will get Sunday off after going 3-for-19 with a double and a solo homer during that stretch. Willie MacIver will step in behind the plate to catch lefty JP Sears for the series finale in Toronto.
-
Hunter Goodman COL C
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: On bench Sunday
2h agoGoodman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Goodman started the previous four games and will receive Sunday off after going 3-for-16 with a walk and five strikeouts during that stretch. Jacob Stallings will work behind the plate and bat ninth in the series finale for Colorado.
-
Adley Rutschman BAL C
Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Resting Sunday
2h agoRutschman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Rutschman appears to be getting some routine rest for the matinee game after he started at designated hitter or catcher in each of Baltimore's last three contests. Maverick Handley will get the nod behind the dish in the series finale.
-
Drake Baldwin ATL C
Braves' Drake Baldwin: Taking seat for series finale
2h agoBaldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
After taking a seat for Friday's series opener while the Red Sox sent right-hander Lucas Giolito to the hill, the Baldwin will take a seat against a southpaw (Garrett Crochet) this time around. Sean Murphy will get the nod at catcher Sunday, but Baldwin is still expected to see the bulk of the starts as the left-handed-hitting option of what appears to be a loose platoon between the two backstops.
-
Jake Bauers MIL 1B
Brewers' Jake Bauers: Struggling for playing time
2h agoBauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Bauers has started in just one of the Brewers' last seven games, with the 29-year-old sitting against four left-handers and two right-handers during that stretch. While the ongoing absence of Garrett Mitchell (oblique) has opened up a spot in the outfield, the left-handed-hitting Bauers hasn't been able to take control of a strong-side platoon role. Expect the Brewers continue to use a rotation of Bauers, Isaac Collins and Daz Cameron in left field until Mitchell's eventual return pushes Jackson Chourio from center field back to left.
-
Bryce Harper PHI 1B
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Sitting again Sunday
3h agoHarper (elbow) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
Harper hasn't started since being hit by a pitch in the right elbow Tuesday versus Atlanta, and his absence will continue Sunday. The 32-year-old is still dealing with some bruising, though manager Rob Thomson relayed Saturday that the swelling has improved significantly over the past couple days. Harper will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery before the Phillies begin a three-game set in Toronto on Tuesday. For his part, Harper said that he's feeling much better and anticipates playing in the series opener versus the Blue Jays, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
-
Nick Sogard BOS 1B
Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Demoted to Triple-A
3h agoThe Red Sox optioned Sogard to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.
Sogard's demotion comes after Abraham Toro supplanted him as the Red Sox's preferred option at first base, with Toro manning the position in five of the past six games. Though he had a strong opportunity to stake his claim to an everyday role following his May 10 promotion after Triston Casas (knee) suffered a season-ending injury and Romy Gonzalez (quadriceps) went on the injured list, Sogard slashed just .245/.302/.306 over 53 plate appearances with the big club. Boston called up utility player Nate Eaton from Worcester to replace Sogard on the 26-man active roster.
-
Romy Gonzalez BOS 1B
Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Begins rehab assignment
3h agoGonzalez (quadriceps) started at first base and went 0-for-3 for Triple-A Worcester on Saturday,
Gonzalez started a rehab assignment Saturday, playing six innings in the field. He'll start as the designated hitter for the WooSox on Sunday, per MLB.com, and could be activated as early as Monday.
-
Abraham Toro BOS 1B
Red Sox's Abraham Toro: Settling in at first base
4h agoToro will start at first base and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against Atlanta.
At least in the short term, Toro appears to have emerged as the Red Sox's preferred option at first base. He'll pick up his third straight start at the position, after going 4-for-7 with a double, an RBI and a run through the first two contests in Atlanta to boost his OPS to .833 over 54 plate appearances on the season. Though Triston Casas (knee) is done for the season, Toro will need to continue to perform well to maintain his hold on an everyday role, however. Romy Gonzalez (quadriceps) is in the midst of a rehab assignment and could return from the 10-day injured list later this week to push Toro for playing time, while Kristian Campbell has taken pregame reps at first base in recent weeks and could soon make his debut at the position.
-
Josh Naylor ARI 1B
Diamondbacks' Josh Naylor: Goes yard Saturday
12h agoNaylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a second run scored in Saturday's 11-7 loss to the Nationals.
Naylor has hit safely in nine straight games, and this was his fourth consecutive multi-hit effort. During the hitting streak, he has gone 13-for-37 (.351) with five extra-base hits and eight RBI. The strong stretch has Naylor back up to batting .301 with an .827 OPS, seven homers, 37 RBI, 30 runs scored, 14 doubles, one triple and nine stolen bases across 57 contests this season.
-
Javier Sanoja MIA 2B
-
Kyle Farmer COL 2B
Rockies' Kyle Farmer: Idle for series finale
29m agoFarmer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Farmer had started in each of the last three games at different positions (second base, designated hitter and first base), but he went 0-for-8 at the dish during that stretch and will now hit the bench for the series finale. First base appears to be Farmer's clearest path to consistent playing time at the moment, after the Rockies demoted Michael Toglia to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday. Keston Hiura was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move, and he'll get the nod at first base Sunday in what will be his Rockies debut.
-
Jazz Chisholm NYY 2B
Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Activation could come Tuesday
1h agoYankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Chisholm (oblique) could be activated from the IL as soon as Tuesday and confirmed that the versatile veteran will play third base upon his return, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Chisholm began a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Thursday and has gone 3-for-6 with a walk, a double and a stolen base through two games. He started at third base in each of those contests but is slotted in as Somerset's DH and leadoff batter Sunday. If Chisholm emerges from Sunday's contest without a setback, it seems likely that he'll return to the Yankees on Tuesday following the team's off day Monday, and he's lined up to take over at the hot corner, which has mostly been manned by Oswald Peraza since Oswaldo Cabrera went on the injured list with a season-ending ankle injury in mid-May.
-
Thairo Estrada COL 2B
Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Not in Sunday's lineup
1h agoEstrada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Estrada started the past two games after being reinstated from the injured list Friday, and he'll take a seat Sunday after going 1-for-7 with an RBI and a run in his first two MLB games of 2025. Orlando Arcia will man the keystone while Sam Hilliard enters the lineup in center field for the Rockies.
-
Kristian Campbell BOS 2B
Red Sox's Kristian Campbell: Starting, but not at first base
4h agoCampbell will start at second base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against Atlanta, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Campbell's inclusion in the lineup isn't noteworthy in itself, though the fact that he's playing second base is unexpected after manager Alex Cora had previously said that he planned to give the rookie his first career start at first base this weekend. Cora appears to have had a late change of heart and will instead use Abraham Toro at first base in the series finale, but Campbell has been taking pregame reps at the position for a couple weeks now and should eventually get a look.
-
Tommy Edman LAD 2B
Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Racks up four hits in rout
12h agoEdman went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI in an 18-2 victory versus the Yankees on Saturday.
Edman and Hyseong Kim combined to go 8-for-9 out of the bottom two spots in the Dodgers' order to contribute to an impressive performance by the team's offense. Edman had been in need of a big day at the plate, as he entered Saturday having batted just .143 (5-for-35) over 10 games since returning from the injured list May 18. Edman hasn't homered in any of his past 17 games after beginning the campaign with eight long balls through 24 contests, but he does have three extra-base hits -- all doubles -- through the first two game of the weekend series against the Yankees.
-
Maikel Garcia KC 3B
Royals' Maikel Garcia: Battling thumb issue
41m agoGarcia was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers due to right thumb soreness.
Garcia was penciled in to make his 46th consecutive start but will instead step out of the starting nine due to the thumb injury. He'll have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery before Kansas City travels to St. Louis to begin a three-game series Tuesday. Jonathan India replaced Garcia in the lineup Sunday after originally being scheduled for a day off.
-
Yoan Moncada LAA 3B
Angels' Yoan Moncada: Out of Sunday's lineup
1h agoMoncada is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Moncada returned to the lineup and went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Saturday after sitting out one game due to knee soreness, and he's back on the bench for Sunday's series finale in Cleveland. There's been no indication that the veteran third baseman aggravated the injury, so he could just be getting a rest day. Luis Rengifo will shift to third base while Scott Kingery receives a start at the keystone.
-
Max Muncy LAD 3B
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Powers offense in rout
13h agoMuncy went 3-for-6 with two home runs, three total runs and seven RBI in Saturday's 18-2 thrashing of the Yankees.
Muncy's first RBI was a relatively quiet one, as he laced a single to center to bring in the Dodgers' second run in the first inning. The veteran third baseman followed with two big blasts -- a 400-foot, three-run shot in the second inning to send New York starter Will Warren to the showers and a 410-foot, three-run blast in the fifth. Muncy achieved a couple of personal milestones Saturday, as his first long ball was the 200th regular-season homer of his big-league career, while his seven RBI tied a single-game career high. He appears to be coming around in the power department; after swatting just one long ball in his first 39 games, Muncy has belted five homers while racking up 22 RBI over his past 15 contests.
-
Brett Baty NYM 3B
Mets' Brett Baty: Drives in three
13h agoBaty went 1-for-4 with a three-RBI triple and one run scored in Saturday's win over the Rockies.
Baty's bases-clearing triple in the first inning gave the Mets a lead they never relinquished. The 25-year-old has taken advantage of consistent playing time in May, slashing .292/.344/.573 with six home runs and 20 RBI in his past 30 games. The former highly touted prospect struggled through his first three MLB seasons and owns a career .636 OPS, but he may be turning a corner in 2025.
-
Josh Rojas CHW 3B
White Sox's Josh Rojas: Multi-hit effort
13h agoRojas went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Saturday against the Orioles.
Rojas has struggled to get going at the plate since being activated from the injured list May 6, as this marked his first multi-hit game in his last 10 starts. He also managed to swipe his third bag of the season and second in his last five games. Despite the encouraging performance, Rojas is hitting only .175 with two extra-base hits across 72 plate appearances for the campaign.
-
Junior Caminero TB 3B
Rays' Junior Caminero: Slugs two long balls in rout
16h agoCaminero went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles, four total runs and five total RBI in a 16-3 win against the Astros on Saturday.
Caminero put the Rays ahead for good with a 355-foot solo shot in the fourth inning and finished his big day at the plate with a three-run blast in the eighth. The talented young third baseman has been on quite a roll to end the month, racking up four home runs and 13 RBI while going 9-for-18 over his past four games. Caminero now has 13 long balls, 37 RBI, 30 runs and three stolen bases while slashing .265/.291/.512 over 223 plate appearances on the campaign.
-
Nick Allen ATL SS
Braves' Nick Allen: Back in action Sunday
2h agoAllen (hand) will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Allen had been held out of the lineup for the past two days after experiencing swelling on the knuckle of his right middle finger upon being hit by a pitch in the second game of a doubleheader Thursday versus the Phillies. The two days off appear to have provided sufficient time for Allen to heal up from the injury, and he should be ready to handle the bulk of the starts at shortstop for Atlanta moving forward.
-
Joseph Ortiz MIL SS
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Scores twice, drives in run in win
5h agoOrtiz went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs and an RBI in Saturday's 17-7 win over the Phillies.
Ortiz's sixth-inning base hit snapped an 0-for-14 skid at the plate that dated back to Monday. While the 26-year-old has started in each of the last seven games and may not be in imminent danger of losing out on an everyday role in the middle infield, he's nonetheless been a major disappointment for fantasy managers who were expecting him to take a leap forward in his second full season in the big leagues. Ortiz is slashing just .179/.246/.240 on the season, with his .486 OPS placing him last in the majors among all players who have logged at least 150 plate appearances.
-
Carlos Correa MIN SS
Twins' Carlos Correa: First career ejection
12h agoCorrea was ejected from Saturday's loss at Seattle in the seventh inning for arguing with the umpire about the strike zone while in the on-deck circle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He went 1-for-2 with a double before departing.
Correa had never been ejected from a major-league game before Saturday. His ejection came at a poor time in a close game, as Correa has been hot at the plate. He's hitting .400 (10-for-25) with three home runs in his last eight games since returning from a concussion May 23.
-
Jose Caballero TB SS
Rays' Jose Caballero: Swipes 19th bag
13h agoCaballero went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, three runs scored, a walk and a stolen base Saturday against the Astros.
Caballero got the chance to lead off with a lefty on the mound, the second consecutive time he's done so. He delivered an excellent performance, extending his hitting streak to five games while also swiping his 19th stolen base of the campaign. Caballero is known primarily for his defense and speed, but he quietly has maintained a 115 wRC+ and .326 wOBA across 154 plate appearances on the campaign.
-
Ezequiel Tovar COL SS
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Pops third homer
13h agoTovar went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored Saturday against the Mets.
Tovar got the Rockies going offensively, popping a home run in the opening inning. It was his third long ball of the season but first since May 19. In that span, Tovar has hit a solid .273 with four RBI and seven runs scored across 12 games.
-
Colson Montgomery CHW SS
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Dealing with knee soreness
13h agoMontgomery is considered day-to-day due to knee soreness, MLB.com reports.
Montgomery was hit by a pitch in the knee Friday and was held out of the lineup Saturday. X-rays came back clean, so it is not anticipated that he'll be out for the long term. Montgomery has shown improved form since re-joining Triple-A Charlotte on May 13, maintaining a .275/.373/.510 line across 51 at-bats.

-
Zach Dezenzo HOU LF
Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Lands on injured list
20m agoThe Astros placed Dezenzo on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to left hand inflammation, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The 25-year-old departed Saturday's contest due to the injury and will be sidelined for at least the next 10 days. One of the Astros' top prospects, Jacob Melton, was called up in a corresponding move Sunday to bolster Houston's outfield depth.
-
Nathan Lukes TOR LF
Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: Taking seat Sunday
40m agoLukes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Though he'll hit the bench while southpaw JP Sears takes the hill for the Athletics, the left-handed-hitting Lukes should continue to have a fairly clear path to playing time against right-handed pitching for the foreseeable future after Daulton Varsho (hamstring) joined Anthony Santander (shoulder) on the injured list Sunday. Lukes has been seeing most of his playing time in the outfield corners of late, but manager John Schneider suggested that Lukes could end up filling the strong side of a platoon in center field with the right-handed-hitting Myles Straw while Varsho is on the shelf, per Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.
-
Dane Myers MIA CF
Marlins' Dane Myers: Not starting Sunday
45m agoMyers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Meyers went 0-for-5 with a walk and a run scored in his first two games since coming off the injured list Friday, and he'll head to the bench for Sunday's series finale. Javier Sanoja will instead start in center field versus San Francisco righty Hayden Birdsong.
-
Marcus Stroman NYY SP
Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Throws to hitters Saturday
37m agoStroman (knee) tossed live batting practice in Los Angeles on Saturday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
Stroman threw "around 30 pitches and the equivalent of two innings," per Joyce, in the session, which marked his first time facing live hitters since May 9. The right-hander "looked sharp" according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who also indicated that he's unsure what Stroman's next step will be. Stroman's last game action came April 11, so he'll almost certainly need a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated off the IL, though a timeline for that to take place isn't yet clear. The veteran hurler had been part of New York's rotation prior to getting hurt, but it's not certain that he'll return to that role upon activation, as the team's current five starters -- Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, Clarke Schmidt, Will Warren and Ryan Yarbrough -- have been mostly effective of late.
-
Mick Abel PHI SP
Phillies' Mick Abel: Set for start Thursday in Toronto
1h agoPhillies manager Rob Thomson said that Abel will be called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start Thursday's game versus the Blue Jays in Toronto, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
In his MLB debut back on May 18 versus the Pirates, Abel dazzled with nine strikeouts over six shutout frames, but he was sent back to Lehigh Valley immediately after the start while the Phillies elected to turn to veteran Taijuan Walker to replace the injured Aaron Nola (ankle) in the rotation. With Walker underwhelming in his last two starts, the Phillies have decided to move him to a one-inning leverage role out of the bullpen, reopening a spot in the rotation for Abel. Though he's poised to rejoin the Phillies, Abel won't necessarily be in store for a long-term stay in the big leagues. Nola has resumed throwing in the bullpen and could begin a rehab assignment next week before returning from the injured list by the second week of June.
-
Taijuan Walker PHI SP
Phillies' Taijuan Walker: Heading back to bullpen
1h agoPhillies manager Rob Thomson said that Walker will move back to the bullpen this week, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. "I want to see him in a one-inning stint and see what he can do," Thomson said of Walker.
Though Aaron Nola (ankle) won't be ready to return from the 15-day injured list the next time a fifth starter is needed Thursday in Toronto, the Phillies will instead call up Mick Abel from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill the void while sending Walker to the bullpen after a two-start run in the rotation. Walker, who was roughed up for four earned runs in four innings against Milwaukee this past Friday, isn't expected to be available out of the bullpen until Tuesday or Wednesday coming off the 89-pitch start. Once Walker is ready to go, Thomson plans to give the right-hander a trial as a high-leverage reliever, perhaps as a setup man in front of closer Jordan Romano. Thomson is optimistic that the full-time shift to a one-inning relief role could allow Walker's stuff to play up and revive his career, as the 32-year-old has largely disappointed as a starter since signing a four-year, $72 million deal with Philadelphia following the 2022 season.
-
Seth Johnson PHI SP
Phillies' Seth Johnson: Joining big-league bullpen
1h agoThe Phillies recalled Johnson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Johnson opened the season as a member of Lehigh Valley's rotation but transitioned into a bullpen role in late April. He's had mixed results as a reliever at Triple-A, striking out 20 batters over 14.2 innings out of the bullpen but also issuing 10 walks and posting a 5.52 ERA and 1.84 WHIP. Though he still received his first big-league call-up of the season, Johnson is likely to be deployed mostly in lower-leverage spots while he's up with the Phillies.
-
Kumar Rocker TEX SP
Rangers' Kumar Rocker: Set to rejoin rotation
2h agoRocker (shoulder) is expected to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday against the Rays, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The right-hander seemed likely require at least one additional rehab outing after throwing 53 pitches over four scoreless innings Thursday for Triple-A Round Rock, but he's instead set to rejoin the Rangers since Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) was placed on the injured list Sunday. Rocker figures to have some workload limitations in his first start back in the majors, but he pitched well in his two rehab outings with an 8:1 K:BB across seven shutout innings.
-
Nathan Eovaldi TEX SP
Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi: Lands on IL
2h agoThe Rangers placed Eovaldi (triceps) on the 15-day injured list Sunday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Eovaldi experienced right triceps fatigue coming out of his most recent outing Tuesday, but the Rangers were initially optimistic that he would avoid a stint on the IL and would be ready to pitch after getting a few extra days of rest between starts. In fact, Eovaldi told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com earlier Sunday that he was feeling good after playing catch in recent days and was hopeful to return to the mound Wednesday or Thursday versus the Rays, but the Rangers' brass evidently felt it was better to give the veteran righty some additional time off. Per Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, general manager Chris Young reiterated that Eovaldi has nothing structurally wrong with his arm, and the Rangers appear optimistic that he'll be able to return from the IL around the time that he's first eligible June 13. Kumar Rocker (shoulder) is on track to be activated from the IL to start the next time Eovaldi's turn in the rotation comes up Wednesday.
-
Jose Ruiz PHI RP
Phillies' Jose Ruiz: Dropped from 40-man roster
1h agoThe Phillies designated Ruiz for assignment Sunday.
Ruiz will cede his spot in the Philadelphia bullpen to right-hander Seth Johnson, who was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Over his 16 relief appearances for Philadelphia this season, Ruiz was lit up for 13 earned runs on 21 hits and six walks across 14.1 innings. The 30-year-old is unlikely to attract much interest from other teams via waivers.
-
Erik Swanson TOR RP
Blue Jays' Erik Swanson: Back from injured list
2h agoThe Blue Jays reinstated Swanson (forearm) from the 60-day injured list Sunday.
The right-hander has been sidelined for the first couple months of the season due to carpal tunnel syndrome in his right forearm, but he's ready to rejoin the Blue Jays after a six-outing rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo. Swanson had a 5.03 ERA across 45 appearances last season, but he recorded four saves and 29 holds with a 2.97 ERA in 2023 and could return to a high-leverage role if he can regain that form.
-
Tyler Alexander MIL RP
Brewers' Tyler Alexander: DFA'd by Milwaukee
3h agoThe Brewers designated Alexander for assignment Sunday.
The left-hander worked mop-up duty in Saturday's blowout win against the Phillies, and he'll lose his place on the 40-man roster after giving up five runs across one inning. Gordon Graceffo STL RP
Cardinals' Gordon Graceffo: Multi-inning reliever at Triple-A
3h agoCardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Saturday after Graceffo was optioned to Triple-A Memphis that the righty could be used in a multi-inning relief role, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
All four of Graceffo's appearances this season at Memphis have been as a starting pitcher, but all nine outings in the majors in 2025 have come in relief. While the team hasn't committed to a permanent move to the bullpen for Graceffo, it's the role he'll work in for now. The 25-year-old has posted a 7.47 ERA and 13:4 K:BB over 15.2 frames with the big club this season.

Yuki Matsui SD RP
Padres' Yuki Matsui: Struggles out of bullpen Saturday
3h agoMatsui allowed two runs on four hits without retiring a batter in Saturday's loss to Pittsburgh.
Matsui entered with one out in the seventh inning with San Diego down 3-0. The southpaw gave up four straight hits -- three singles and one double -- to allow the Pirates to plate two runs before he was given the hook. It was an uncharacteristically poor performance by Matsui, who entered Saturday with a solid 2.74 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10.2 K/9 through 23 appearances. He hasn't been on the fantasy radar, though, since he isn't being used in high-leverage situations often. Matsui has just two holds and no save chances on the season.

3h agoThe Red Sox placed Slaten on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right shoulder inflammation.

Giancarlo Stanton NYY DH
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Unlikely to return next week
1h agoStanton (elbows) has been taking at-bats at the Yankees' complex in Tampa, but manager Aaron Boone said the slugger is not expected to be activated off the injured list during the coming week, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Stanton logged 6-to-7 at-bats in Tampa on Friday and was slated to continue with similar activity through the weekend. It's unclear what his next steps will be, as Hoch suggests Stanton could either continue working out in Tampa or head out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Boone's comment about Stanton probably not being ready for MLB games during the coming week means the veteran masher may be held out until at least the team's next road trip, which begins Tuesday, June 10 in Kansas City.
